    Default Random reboots :(

    Hi,

    My current setup is:

    Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
    Intel i7 950
    3 x 2Gb G.Skill RAM (Part No. F3-12800CL9-2GBNQ)
    Radeon HD 4870 1Gb
    Windows 7 Ultimate

This has all been running fine for the past year, however, this last week, Ive been experiencing random reboots. The can occur anytime, during boot up, whilst Windows is running.

I've manage to make it stable by removing 1 stick of memory, and I've also swapped the memory about, leaving 2 sticks in each time, and it doesnt reboot.

So, what could be the problem? The memory seems fine, could it be a PSU or a motherboard issue?

    Anyone have the same issues?

    Thanks!

You sure the memory is fine?
Run memtest86+ on each individual stick at the one slot you can.

It could be the PSU or RAM, is the system overclocked?

I ran it memtest86+ from a USB stick for about 30 mins

How would you recommend running it? Just one memory stick in the board and then run the default test for a couple of hours? Then swap each memory stick?

Eeek. I dont know. Basically I put the system together and I never touch any of the voltages. Everything should be on AUTO. I'll have a look and see what settings it has applied though.

No, its never been overclocked. We did have a thunderstorm a couple of weeks ago where all the power in the house went off...that would possibly point to the PSU?

Yes test all sticks one by one first, at what ever settings(speed/timings/voltage) you used before.

All sorted. I happened upon a replacement PSU and everything seems good now.

    THanks for the info!
