    Exclamation Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H ram issue

    Hello,

    I have a Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H (rev 1.0) and I have a 2GB stick and (2) 512MB sticks of DDR2. The 2GB stick posts at 667mhz and the 512's will post at 533mhz. I can boot the computer separately with either the 2GB stick or the 2 sticks of 512, but the computer wont post with them together. Is this not possible? I have tried different configurations in the memory slots to get the system to boot with 3GB total of ram, but it just isnt happening. Is there a setting or something in the bios setup i need to change in order for this to work or will it not work at all?

    Thanks,
    Juston

    It is strongly advised to install liked pairs of memory into a system for this reason.

    Things to try. Install the 2 x 512mb sticks of ram in the systems. Boot the system up. Load optimized settings press F10 to save and reboot.

    Enter bios manually set ram speed, Timings, and voltage for the ram. Here is the key read the lables on both sets of ram if the 2gb stick says 6-6-6-18 but the 2 x 512mb say 4-4-4-12. Use the timings of the 2gb stick. Also look at the voltages if the 2gb stick says 1.6v and the 2 512mb say 1.5v. Use the 1.6v. manually set the ram speed to 533.

    Press F10 to save and reboot.

    Let the system boot up and into windows. Shut the system down. Install the 2gb stick and see if it works. If still have trouble you may have to increase the northbridge voltage.

    The 2 512's have this on the label:

    -> 512MB 1Rx8 PC2 4200U-444-12-D0

    Theres no other numbers except for what I assume is a serial..

    Another thing, this is a fresh system... I currently have the 2GB stick in and I am installing Windows 7...

    When installing all modules install the 1x2GB and 2x512MB in different channels.
    e.g. 2x512MB in slotes 1 & 3 and 1x2GB in slot 2
    or 1x2GB in slot 1 and 2x512MB in slots 2 & 4.
