Default High VTT voltage - NO POST (P55A-UD4)

I was trying to make my i5-750 stable at 4.2 Ghz (21x200).
I had to increase the VTT voltage past 1.4. Even at 1.41 it took a while to power up (there was a pause when restarting from BIOS).
But it still wasn't perfectly stable with Prime large FFT (error after two hours).
So then I raised the VTT voltage to 1.45 and I couldn't make it post anymore. It would try twice with some clicking noise and then just stay off. I had to physically reset BIOS (short the pins) to turn it on again.

I'm just wondering if this is normal or if there's something else to consider. I'm pretty sure the trouble is related to VTT voltage increase, because the other values were unchanged from the working state.

vtt as in qpi/vtt voltage or cpu voltage? sems alot for 4.2ghz running dual channel ram, what memory speed are you using and dram voltage? not being able to set your own uncore freq wont help on that mb

Yes, QPI/VTT voltage. The CPU voltage was around 1.39. RAM was running at the default 1600 (8x200) at 1.3V, increasing voltage didn't help.

I know 1.4+ seems a lot for VTT, but I'm looking for a really stable OC, not just something that passes LinX or Prime blend, which don't properly stress the IMC. If I just aim for passing LinX and Prime blend I can keep VTT below 1.2.

BTW, increasing CPU PLL voltage didn't help either.

Did you try adding qpi/pll voltage? It might help in not adding more qpi/vtt,and 1.3v for dram? It should be either 1.5v or 1.66v
