    Bummer
    Option 1: Angled sata cables.
Option 2: Aftermarket video card cooler to allow clearance with the sata connectors.
Option 3: Finding a PCI-E 1x sata controller card that is compatible with your mobo.

Thanks for the suggestions profJim. I think at present the reverse-angled SATA cables may be the cheapest way to go.

Suffice to say in my future build, Gigabyte won't be at the top of the list...

Thumbs up Re: EP45-UD3P and IBM M1015 RAID card (as HBA)

Just between you and me (and whoever reads this ), I see MSI or Asus in my Ivy Bridge future,
but I'm probably trading the devil I know for the devil I don't know (yet).

Good luck, let us know if the angled sata connectors work out OK.

Thumbs up Re: EP45-UD3P and IBM M1015 RAID card (as HBA)

    Hi profJim,

Been a few months now but just wanted to let you know that I have just managed to resolve the issue with the IBM M1015 card and my GB board. The solution was to flash it to a HBA (non-RAID aka LSI 9210-8i), which is what I was after anyway. The instructions I used were these.

Still on my HD4870 but at least now have 3 slots free ;-) Now eyeing either a 7970 or 670

Hope the above helps anyone wanting to use the IBM M1015 as a HBA card on this GB board.

    Cheers,
    Alf
