Angry GB X58A-UD3R (Rev 2.0) Boot looping / Hard power off crashes

    so system is:
    Mobo: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3 Rev 2.0 BIOS:FE
    Ram: AData Gaming Series ddr3-1600G cl:9-9-9-24 (3 X 2GB Sticks) Volt:1.65
CPU: Boxed Intel i7-960 LGA 1366
Pri HDD: AData 64gb SSD SATA II
    Sec HDD: 1Tb SATA II
    Video: Sapphire HD6450 1gb ddr3
    Power supply: Cooler master 650w
    OS: Win7 64Bit

    System is NOT overclocked.

    1. have tried testing ram sticks in white slots one at a time... no change
    2. have tried mobo with NOTHING in (excepting CPU and power supply connections)

System boot-loops, with occasional start-up... when it does start, it will randomly hard pwr-off.

System has been running fine for 3 months, before this issue developed. no changes to hardware or software.

system does not pwr on long enough to upgrade bios, and @Bios has a runtime error

Have you tried clearing CMOS (20+ minutes)?
    The CPU heatsink seated properly?

hey wazza, system ran fine for 3 months, then the issue "appeared" no hardware was altered prior to the issue, have since removed/reseted cpu several times as I have found that there is about 1/4mm movement in the socket, inspecting the pads i can see some of the 'pins' are only just contacting the pads on the cpu, so have tried seating the cpu in all four quadrants that the sloppiness allows... with no positive result :(

and yes, have tested with 2 different PSU's

were there any bent pins? if you do remove cpu again try and take/post close up pic showing the whole cpu/socket pin area, doesnt matter if its sloppy when the clamp clamps down on it it will make sure the right amount of pressure is applied to make contact with all the pins
