Default DMI Pool data hang GA-EX58-UD5

I have an EX58-UD5 with a couple of 150GB Raptors in Raid0 as my Boot drive.

A couple of days ago, the machine crashed coming out of sleep, and since then, will not boot past "Verifying DMI pool data".

When I say will not boot, I mean it will not boot from the Raptors, from a Windows disk, from another hard drive, from a Linux LiveCD, etc, regardless of if I have the Raptors connected, or just a DVD drive or other hard drive.

The raptors are visible as a Raid array attached to my other PC, I can browse and transfer files.

Setting the board to AHCI mode does not help, it still will not boot from anything.

Setting the board to IDE mode works, I am currently in Windows booted from an install I did last night to a random spare drive I had. Of course, this means no NCQ, no Raid, and I want the stuff on my Raptors!!

Reflashing the BIOS to various versions (started on F13j, moved to F13u, then F12, now F9) makes no odds.

When in Qflash, I have tried both keeping and discarding the DMI pool data.

Is there anything I can do here? I'm starting to think it is new motherboard time, which is an expense I can't really afford right now :( obviously from the spec of the computer I was an X58 early adopter - my warranty will be waaay out now. The worst part is that the only X58 boards I can find in the UK right now are also Gigabytes, and I don't want one again after the hassle this one has given me!!

U may still have warrenty, the first 4 digits of S/N represents maufacturing date YYWW(year/week) you have warrenty for 3 years since that date.

    0925, So still in :)

We'll see though, the fact that I have a full cover waterblock on it rather than the OEM cooler probably discounts any warranty claims! Although the board has been fine for years, so it can't really be the cause.

try a very long cmos clear by removing mb battery overnight, dmi hang usually means problem with a component/hardware detection, try removing ram and re insterting,i dont know if it will ruin your raid array if you disconnected drives and re connected them? so i wouldnt do that just yet

Wazza beet me to it. I was gonna say the same thing. The raid array should be fine. As its stored on the hdds them selves.

The raptors are recognised as single drives in IDE mode on the main PC but obviously the array doesn't work as it is seeing them as single drives. As I said they also operate completely normally in RAID on my other PC. chkdisk found no errors on them when attached to the other PC.

It seems very strange that everything works perfectly fine in IDE mode to the point that I'm here posting from it...

I'll try the BIOS battery out overnight when I go to bed!!

Maybe it's being a RAID on another PC, you can try to delete that RAID setup on the other machine and then again on this PC.

Like i say though, with the controller in raid mode it won't boot from anything, even a dvd drive with the hdds not connected.

OK I understand now, so you do see the RAID/AHCI screen detecting the drives and it halts in Updating DMI pool.
