This may be a silly question, but would this require formatting the drives, and reinstalling the OS? Or is there a way to accomplish this w/o going through that?

I was gonna Yes but after reading this OCZ Technology It looks like you do not lose your data. You should be able to boot from another drive that is able to windows with the intel controller set to ide or ahci so the drives are not in raid.

Awesome...that is good info...Along those lines, for whatever reason, the "freeze on splash" issues seems to be no longer (knock on wood). I'm still installing applications, etc...But will report back w/ any other lessons learned.

I truely appreciate itthe help you've provided...I'm going to update to the BIOS you provided in the next day or so...After I get this squared away.

Everything seems to be stable at this time...I've been away for a day or so for the New Year, but messing with things today seems good. I don't know if anyone is interested, but I've included (maybe) a screen cap of the performance w/ the 2 SSD's...I tested prior to installing the 2nd and creating a raid and this score is better than double...

looks good... Is that with your original bios or the modded bios? You should do a before and after with that also :) Your raid settings will carry over if you have not flashed already.

That's pre-modded BIOS...Gonna try to get that done in the next couple of days...That's also w/o updating the FW on the SSD's...I'm leading towards the "if it ain't broke..." path in regards to the drives, tho, so they will prolly end up going as is until the next time I mess w/ my system.

but I will indeed test again after I update the BIOS and see how it changes.

I didn't know that...in fact I thought TRIM was supported...but after actually looking into it, you are absolutley correct, ugh.

Now I need to look into Garbage Collection: How? How Often? etc...(I had honestly never heard GC before, thank you for pointing this out). So looks like I have some add'l reading to do. Guess if I'm gonna do this, I may as well do it correctly. :)

    Thanks

NM...Looks like BGC works w/o any user interefence...which make me happy. I guess I'll just benchmark it and see how it does over time.

No worries Acebmxer, you've been a tremendous help...It's my fault for leaping before I looked (or Doing before I completely understood what it was that was being Done), as I'm prone to do. But I woulda done it regardless, so I'm in the same place I'da been anyhoo...

This site continues to be a great source of info and a great help for those with just enuff "know-how" to be dangerous...Like me.
