Nice, thermal paste is never an issue with me, I could fill up the socket first if I wanted because I use MX-2 or TX-2 only.

30g tube of MX-2 for $15 can't be beat, but I do like TX-2 better! Too bad they wont sell 30g tubes, I even emailed them a few times about it and nothing positive ever came of it.

Ouch, that's AS5 or some other paste with metal in it, not good!! You could have washed the socket out in the shower no problem, but he bent those pins so bad I'd never waste my time with that!

I can't believe people sell (Or buy) super trashed boards like that for such high prices! It's worth nothing unless you are 100% sure you can get an RMA hassle free, no way that can be fixed without socket replacement.

That should have been a start at 0.99 cent auction, and should only bring in 1-2 bids that never go above a few bucks.

Checking back in to post my 1st system issue.

    BSOD stop:0x0...50 "page_fault_nonpaged_area

    INFO:
    • I was attempting a download of a small zip file (HW Monitor) ; When I clicked on save option in firefox popup BSOD occured. Ihave not downloaded any zip files since my system has been up and running. Non zip files have been downed problem free.

    • Upon windows attempt at restart error information stated corrupt registry. I have made no regedit entries whatsoever

    • Log file is now lost as I had to restore from an image backup that obviously did not contain that data

Should be noted that whilst windows was attempting repairs after 1st restart (before recovery) Drive listings were inaccurate. OS was listed on D: This is my data drive that contains pagefile, indexfoler, windows and user temp folders as well as libararies . Command prompt--diskpart: list disk showed all disks with list number correctly.

    Background Info:
    • Ram disk is/was running; set to 4gb size, load from disk upon restart and to save every hour. File is stored on D: (OS is on C:)

    • Pagefile was dissabled on C: (OS) and set+enabled on D: (data) to 1024 min+max

    Question:
What relation is there between a zip file and pagefile?

    Fix:
    • I have since restored the computer from an image backup (took 9hrs!) but only restored my real C: OS leaving my data drive intact.

    • I have booted into windows error free and set pagefile to C: (OS) @ 1024 min+max. Also disabled page file on D: (data).

NB:\\ I really wanted to recreate the error scenario before making the page file location change. But will cost me a lot of time. Perhaps I will reset to my (error settings) and retry later.

    Question:

Does that make sense? and do you know of any other possible instances that may have caused this; eg: hardware error, alternate win 7 settings.?

    Thanks,.

PS: I am now starting a rebuild of my old GAEP45 UD3P rev1.1 as an HTPC couch edition! here's my case. New thread maybe??

9 hours for a OS restore? What program do you use, wow that is long? I think it only takes me 8-10 minutes to restore to SSD, maybe 15-20 to a spinner.

As for the issue at hand, sorry I have not read this whole thread so I'm not sure where you are at as far as stablity testing, but that 0x00000050 means memory issues most often. Have you ran extended memory tests and everything is stable?

    0x50 = RAM timings/Frequency add DDR3 voltage or add QPI/VTT

Yes I ran extended memtest testing as detailed at the beggining of my thread.
It's the corrupt registry error report and the fact I have ramdisk installed that rasies my eyebrows.

Again, sorry for not reading the thread!

Memory errors can corrupt the registry, that along with the BSOD is why I asked. Ramdisk may be partially, or fully to blame here, I've never used it myself so I couldn't say. Hopefully the guys that have been helping you all along will chime back in to help with that. If you need me I'm here, just holla!

Ok will look into this later as I don't have time for testing right now. I'm going to run my system for a week as is with some more tests and try to re-emulate crash scenario.

Naturally will back up any further install changes.

Will see how we go and then address RamDisk followed by BIOS

    Thanks.
