Default GA-X58A-UD3R v2 / CPU Over Voltage LED = Red

Maybe I just never noticed it before...maybe it's late (early?) and the whiskey has made me THINK I've never seen this before...but for whatever reason, I don't recall having seen my CPU over voltage light on before. I'm running completely stock (such that I've don't zero OC'ing to date).

The red light was on (in fact it looked like all 3, the green, yellow & red were on) while I was playing a game...As soon as I logged, the lights went out completely...

Is this something I should be concerned with?

Could be something to worry about. Could you please post a screen shot of CPU-z and ET6 running. With ET6 please select the Tuner Tab then click the Advanced Button then the voltage tab. If you could take the screen shot when the system is under load we can see what voltage is being applied while loaded with cpuz. Also if you could have realtemp running also to show the core temps to make sure the cpu is not overheating.

ET6 and CPU-Z info coming up shortly!

For whatever reason, I cannot load/run ET6. I tried the version from the disc I got w/ the mobo (10.x I believe), then I tried the latest ver from the gigabyte website (11.x I think). Both installed, neither would run.

So here is a screen cap of CPU-z and RT. this is w/ no load at all...I need to head out for a bit, but when I get back, I'm going to try to recreate the conditions from last night (sans whiskey) and see what happens.

When starting ET6 It may appear as if nothing is happening but you need to look down at the lower right corner of the screen and you should I icon for it.

Edit - you may want to try and uninstall which ever version you have installed and install the latest one from here http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...ity-tools.html scroll down to post #2.

Oi...well that's embarrassing...Sho' nuff, it was right there in the tray (I ended up having to use the ver of ET6 that was on the CD I got due to a <Open Driver Handle Error> while trying to install the ver from the BM Post and from the giga site).

That being said, I tried to recreate what happened last night, and after about 90m of gaming the red LED came back on. I've included the screenies requested. I appreciate the help. (of note: around that same time, I began getting white flickers...something stinks in Denmark)

sorry to butt in but your cpu voltage seems high for auto, you might try setting to normal see how much it uses and reduce further by setting dvid to -0.03125 to start with making 1.25000v cpu voltage at load (might drop lower due to vdroop),next i would up your qpi/vtt voltage to around 1.25v and set dram voltage to either 1.5v or 1.66v but depends on your ram it will be printed on it

try to keep core temps below 80c too

I appreciate any/all input regarding this...The odd thing is I don't OC this thing at all...I've never adjusted the CPU voltage. It starts at .925-.944 then climbs from there. Is this a setting I can adjust so that the CPU voltage doesn't go up like that? Have I inadvertently hosed something w/o knowing it?

    thanks!

No everything is perfectly normal, however nine times out of ten stock CPU voltage can be improved upon by reducing firther and reducing temps,if you adjust through dvid the cpu will still downclock like its doing now only you might be able to run it at lower voltages

@cutter311. Looks like you might have a couple things happening. 1st looks like what wazza is getting at is auto is overvolting while under load. 2nd The cpu is overheating and throatling. You can see the from Realtemp Core 2 hit TJmax and throttled as thermal stats says LOG. Your over heating issue could be caused be AUTO over volting or your cpu cooler is not making good contact.

Look at your load temps at %25 load your already at 80c at the core temps. Thats were you wanna be at full load %100.

My guess is cpu cooler is Stock intel cooler and not seated correctly. Idle temps in first pic how this also as Idle temps are way too high. What is your ambient temp?

Can you load up your game or Prime95 / LinX or something and look and see what CPU-z show vcore as underload.

Also set vcore to normal in bios or set to what is stated in the left column.

Please do not go any further untill temps are fixed.
