Keep in mind Uncore has a huge effect on bandwidth, so if you compare memory speeds at different CPU overclocks you need to also keep the uncore in mind.

Higher uncore would also be a way to get better memory performance at any CPU speed, without having to increase memory speed or lower timings. It requires more QPI/Vtt, but you can often go 1-4 or more above 2x memory, if you want.

Timings, as their name suggest are about times not cycles, so lets try to figure them out.

    800MHz clock(not data rate) is 1/800000000 os a second per cycle, or 1.25ns, 9 cycles are 11.25ns.
    664MHz clock is 1/664000000 or 1.5ns, 7 cycles are 10.5ns.
So actually now you run a slightly better timings than you would at 1600, by 6.77 percent.

    A more simple timings conversion formula would be clock2/clock1 x timing1, e.g. 664 / 800 x 9 = 7.47, meaning the furmula suggest you need CAS 8(rounded up) but you only using CAS 7.
Or CAS2/CAS1 x clock1 to find the clock for the timings, e.g. 7 / 9 x 800 = 622, meaning you can have CAS 7 up to 622MHz, and again you can run it with higher clock.
This in theoory, when finding timings for higher clock, or finding clock for higher cycles, higher timings may be needed, or lower clock may be used or it may not work at all.

It's not that big of a difference, and I do believe you'd have better results with DDR-1600 if you could run it with cmd rate 1T. Since you can't, just run the best you can. Think of it as buying a DDR-1333 C7, normal DDR-1333 is CAS 9.

As I said before, memory performance do not make a big difference for real world applications.

    ok haha

i havnt tried setting the commands to 1 or timing any lower than the ram uses when it runs at full 1600

i just see it as one thing thats stopping both the cpu and memory from running at overclock + 1600

if the cpu overclocks and the ram does run at 1600 then why not together

but yes chike i think i did get that

maybe i should buy some 2000 ram and pretend its 1600

1T command rate should be fine/default for DDR3, using 2T shouldn't be necessary at all on these boards.

ahh ok well everytime i have set up the timing i have set it to 2T as this is what it shows its running at when xmp profile1=1600 is achieved

i will try with some timings then
