No, I only updated one BIOS, that was never an issue on X58 only P67+^

Can't test any further now though, low on paste and already have X79 setup again, so we'll have to leave this up to the BIOS engineers now. You guys can test updating both BIOSes to match though if you want, but I doubt it will help.

Of course, now that you mention it makes me wonder since I'm so used to advising this for P67+^, but it's never been an issue on X58 so it shouldn't be now. But, you know it's gonna bug us until we know for sure!

Can one or both of you guys please test that just to be sure. Thanks ahead of time, it's most appreciated!

What is the exact model of memory you have?? Haha, just giving you a hard time because I've already asked a few times and you never say

12GB @ 3x4GB or 6x2GB is pretty hard to overclock, but the 12GB with 2GB modules will be able to do much better even though there is more modules. If you have 4GB modules, then you can probably loosen timings and overclock much higher.

But since you have 960 CPU you'll be limited to around 2000-2100 or so depending on how much voltage you are willing to push and how much your CPU likes you Pushing past 4Ghz uncore is where 920-975 CPU's start to struggle

Give us your model of memory and we'll be able to better tell you what might be possible. If you do not actually need 12GB of memory, then you'd enjoy a 6GB (3x2GB) kit much more, they are MUCH easier to overclock, and are way more flexible than 4GB based kits.

    * Ohh, and thanks for being able to test! We probably don't need to do any further testing, I'm sure they'll be able to replicate, but it would be nice to know about that while we wait.

hehe, its a kit 3x2gb but i have 2x giving me 12 gb (6x 2gb sticks) of them as my old motherboard failed and i thought it was the memory so giving my memory to a friend for testing i did order 1 more of the same kit but it did turn out it was the MB.Got the memory back from my friend, and suddenly the sticks i ordered popped down in the mail box
no i dont need 12gb, i just have it :-P

OK, that will be a lot better to overclock, still might be limited a little due to using all slots, but nothing like using 4GB modules. You still didn't give the model # haha!!

So, what's the model number, or show us a CPU-s SPD screenshot

Thanks! Do they both say the same version number? If so, or not, what is the version #? That might give you some issues if they are different version #'s

You should be able to do 888-24 at 1600 no problem, are you wanting to go faster or try to lower timings? Or are you just having issues getting them going at 1600 still?

no no, they are 8-8-8-24 now at 1600mhz, but was woundering if i could get better speed than that. push them more:-D
TR3X6G1600C8D and CMP6GX3M3A1600C8 is the version number. the CMP6GX3M3A1600C8 is the one with xmp support after i googled it
when i talked to the store ages ago:-P they said they was exactly the same.

Yes, I know they are 888-24 now, I looked them up. And yes, you can do better speeds, but you may need to use looser timings.

I asked for the version number, not model, so I could better guess what they might be able to do, so I know what chips (IC's) are used in the. The version/revision number is on the sticker, this will tell us what IC's are used, please look at once sticker from each batch and let us know the version number then we'll know what's under the hood.

Stores <s>never</s> rarely know anything, they just want you to buy
