I think it sounds like he never could, and had the latest BIOS already,. But maybe he flashed in the past before he knew about this issue?

So good thinking, maybe it's just that BIOS, and he could flash to an older BIOS for testing, if any older support his CPU

It does sound like the understood what you meant, tested and did not have the same issue in the lab. So it very well could be a problem with your board or CPU, so you may need to send both of those to them for testing, otherwise you'll have to RMA both with both companies and hope for the best. I'd send the board and CPU to Gigabyte and let them test it and see what's going on.
How long would the entire process last? I think you might be right about something being defective and I should test or send for a RMA. The mobo is too old for that but I bought the cpu less than 2 years ago. If I knew which one it was it would be easier.

I can't tell. I had to update the BIOS to install the current processor.

I will look into that right now.

... I looked on the website and it says cpu supported since BIOS version FJI and that is the newest.

It would probably take at leas 2 weeks or more if you sent them your board and CPU, so you'll definitely need another computer to use while they checked it for you, if they will.

Well, don't flash any older BIOSes then if the latest is the only one that support your CPU. Just want until we hear back from Runn3r at the UK forum, I sent him a PM about it.

No problem, I always try to help as much as I can when I can!

Hopefully we can figure this out for you! Can you please tell us what stepping your CPU is in case that matters? I'm not sure if there is two steppings, but sometimes there is.

If you are not sure, please post a CPU-z screenshot (Main/First Tab), and add it to your first post as well.

    Thanks for the CPU-z image!

I've not heard back yet over at the UK forum, but the Admin there might be busy with CEBIT this week, so we may need to wait until next week to hear back.

Just enjoy your system running normally now, and don't worry about this anymore until we hear back!
