Sounds logical, nope I have not primed it stable even stock yet and it failed still, and after so many restarts and blue screens now I have disk boot failure, joy

before that I ran memtest with stock ram speed and then overclocked to 1650, no errors:

EDIT: Realling tempted to just get a LGA2011 now...

Anyone know if this MOBO works with 2133 Ram?

MEMTEST uses the CPU so it's also testing CPU right? should i overclock and run that to test CPU too? (outside of OS)

Which memtest do you use, the "+" our without it?
Memtest is not much stress on the CPU or ram, it is realy made to test for faulty RAM, and will fail with horribly unstable settings, Prime95 is much more agressive.

Okay so system could have no memtest errors but still be unstable from ram

I think the regular, not the + version.

There's a clear CMOS button on the back but the manual doesn't even say how to use it! How long do i hold the button, how long do i wait?
I assume with the power plug out and PSU switch off

EDIT: Cleared it, seemed to reset BIOS settings but i loaded optimized anyway.
interesting thing though it had my RAM over 1.6v

It's 1.6v with XMP selected or disabled?
GB tend to "help" us and overvolt the ram a bit, normally it would not exceed 1.58v.

Use this Memtest86+ when you do use Memtest, and run at least 5-10 passes or overnight if you want to be sure, one pass is not enough to know anything really.
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

LGA2011 socket supports 2600+ memory, if that's what you were asking about 2133 memory support. Your current UD5 will run 2133 or above, since you have 970 CPU, but not nearly as easily as 2011 will. If you want to run 2133 on this setup, you'll need to use less than 2 x uncore, so you can run uncore under or around the 4Ghz area.

I think before even I turned XMP on
Right now I re-imaged my hard drive but it is still blue screening on stock settings under normal tasks!
I've had a lot of other trouble with this board even before overclocking, the onboard LAN card disappearing, bought a pci-e one, then lately it disappeared and both were gone until I disconnected power for a bit

I thought the XMP profile was built into the ram? CPU-Z shows it as just 1.5V for my ram under XMP-1600

Can I try to claim warranty for my board? my OS is on a C300 SSD, any way to test that?

Yes the XMP is programmed into the memory, but not every XMP is going to be stable with every CPU since all CPU's are different. It may be best for you to set things manually, especially since you are using 24GB. And so you know, unless that kit was sold as 24GB at 6x4GB then the XMP will not work, I mean if you have two kits there you can't use XMP as the XMP was meant for one kit. Also, since it is 4GB modules, the XMP may not even be ideally setup for X58 anyway, even if it is one kit.

Please give us the exact G.Skill part number, or a link to where you purchased it so we can look it up on G.Skills site.

What BSOD are you getting? Look at the last set of numbers, or in event log, windows logs, system and then filter for event ID 1001. If it's 0x00000124 you need more QPI/Vtt, if it's 0x00000101 you need more Vcore, if it's something else you'll need to tell us what.

Are you using the latest BIOS for the board, and the latest firmware for the SSD? I'm sure the board is fine, it's just you are using a lot of memory so you need to tweak things yourself is probably the only issue. It's fine with 3x4GB only correct?

    Thanks for all the support.

It was fine for about two weeks with 24GB without changing any BIOS settings, it is only since I've tried this recent overclocking.

The model is two kits of F3-12800CL9T-12GBRL
They appear identical But in CPU-Z SPD it shows one of the sets (the new one I think) as PC3-12800H instead of just PC3-12800. The packaging for my new sticks DID NOT show the 'H' on it

Firmware on my C300 has been the lastest (00007 version) for months.

I am going to re-image a different SSD that's newer to an even older IMAGE and see if I still get the blue screens:

I have that exact same kit but only using 1 kit in my x58a-ud5 board.

0x03b needs more vcore. See the link in my sig for full list of error codes.

Can you please post your full current bios settings. It is possible that you could be gettting the 0x03b because qpi/vtt is so far out it is "Confused"

I would recommend installing ET6 and qpi/vtt to auto and see what is auto setting for qpi/vtt. My 1 set needs needs 1.5+ at 133 bclk that is with a i7-930 which kinda has a bad imc imo.

Also At first I had trouble getting ram to work at 1t and I think it was becuase of not enough qpi/vtt when I was setting it manually.
