Is there a Catalyst log file created after the failed install?
Check the windows View event logs immediately after the failed install to see if it points to a related issue.
I'm running the Sapphire Radeon HD6850 card on 2 machines. On my main pc I tried installing the latest (12.2) catalyst suite, and at some point it always says "no info file found" or something to that effect.
I tried completely uninstalling all ATI software on the machine and reinstalling:
+
above and running driversweeper
No joy. I finally had to use system restore and back up a few days to the installed 12.1 catalyst drivers.
Looked all over the net and read people saying everything from reinstalling Windows to all sorts of silly suggestions.
Any ideas?

Don't use Driver Sweeper with AMD gfx use ATIMan Atiman Uninstaller v.6.3.1.msi
You might try going to device manager and right clicking on your card and chose update driver software then browse my computer and point it to... C:\AMD\Support\12-1_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc\Packages\Drivers\Display\W7 6A_INF
this is 64 bit not sure of name on 32 bit inf if you have it.
Thanks for the tips, guys. I 'll give it another shot.

When I opened up device manager Windows immediately found the 12.2 display driver in the Program Files\AMD folder, so I let it proceed. But Windows says it "found driver software but encountered an error while attempting to install it".
I've had about 4 tries at this with no joy. 12.1 is working just fine, but it still irks me that 12.2 won't install.

When you tired to uninstall the drivers did you do it through the ATI installer?
What version of Driver sweeper did you use? Latest version is 3.2.0. I have 3.1.0 installed and I know that has worked in the past.
Are the 12.1 drivers currently installed correctly, if so try running the 12.1 installer and chose uninstall. It might not tell you to but restart any way but dont allow the system to start normally start in safe mode by spamming the F8 key before you see windows logo. Once in safe mode start driver sweeper and select ATI and hit analyse make sure all items are checked and then press clean. You may get a error about desktop widgets or something I think just say ok or cancel and then it should tell you to restart. Restart the system like normal if windows ask you to restart let. Then try installing the new drivers.
If you still can not install the newer drivers reboot back into safe mode run driver sweeper and look for all ati again and then clean. Reboot back into safe mode and look in the C:\ drive for any ATi folder and delete it. Re run driver sweeper again and look for any ATI and should be clean.
Last resort before fresh windows install is try the atiman uninstaller.
You shouldnt have to uninstall any thing just to update to the newest drivers but some times it is nice to start from a clean slate.
