perhaps it has to do with the digital PWM being easier to implement settings.

Stasio, just installed the Aida beta and indeed the south bridge temp is now listed.

For the time being I'm using a Pentium G850, pending de Ivy Bridge processors, just wonder if
the cpu temp listed in Aida is correct only 16 d.c.?

    (Ambient temp 21 d.c.)

    Correct,
this is CPU system temperatures (not Core temp),which is usually 10C lower then CPU core Temp.
ET6 and your BIOS should show same:

    Edit:
In new AIDA64 Beta still missing VTT voltage for Z77,which will be added in next Beta this week.

When I tried EasyTune, it appeared to show CPU temperature about 10C LOWER than room ambient.
    I bit suspicious I think.
I was using the version of Easytune that came with the board - not sure if that is the latest or not. How do I find out the version?

I contacted Gigabyte on this. I asked them if there is any change to add dvid to ET6 for X58 and this is their response.

Easy Tune is already an set program, no options will be added unless there is an newer release which there are no timeframe on this.

I use the Intel Sata3 connection for my Crucial M4 128gb SSD (port 0) works fine.

The Gsata is the Marvell controller, what I gathered from the past, is that the Intel chip set
    should always be prefered.
