Did you tell them about the damage up front?

You will either get your exact board back, or a refurb, updated version isn't likely unless maybe you had 1.0 then you might get 1.3 or 1.6 (Whichever the other is). Although, you might get X58A if they don't have EX58 sitting around and don't want to replace that slot, it's hard to say what will happen. 6Gb/s via Marvell on X58 boards is not suggested for daily OS use anyway, it's unstable and the Intel ports are faster overall, so don't get your hopes up just for that anyway.

You only pay shipping costs to send it to them, they'll cover the return shipping. Turn around time is usually around two weeks, maybe a little longer if they are busy, maybe a little less if they are not.

I mentioned that RAM slot 1 is not working. Should I tell them about the damage on the note that I sent it in with?

It would be cool to get an X58A - there's no good 6Gb/s on any Gigabyte 1366 boards?

Yes, I would have been honest up front, in the RMA request details actually.

Otherwise they might expect you just have a bent CPU socket pin causing the slot failure, or something like that, and then might be upset when they are surprised with other physical damage.

For X58 only G1 Guerrilla, Sniper, Assassin, and X58A-OC board have Marvell 9182 6Gb/s controller, which is the better one

You think there's any chance they'd give me one of those?

Thanks for that picture. I don't think I can do anything about mine though, it appears there is plastic broken off.

^^^ that looks fixable to me,it lookslike the ram circuit board has caught the metal prong and bent it downward, you could try and push it back up into the small plastic slot? as long as the metal tabs dont touch each other and short then it wont matter if a tiny bit of plastic has broken off,but from that pic the plastic looks intact

I can't see what you mean about broken off plastic either! But anyway, the plastic really doesn't matter, you just need to make sure the metal is back in the correct place.

You should be able to carefully bend it back, with a tiny screwdriver, or a needle, jewelers loop, ect.

Na, you wont get one of the boards mentioned above back, you'll get the same one repaired, or a refurnished one of that same model, or X58A-UD3R if they don't have any EX58's around and don't want to repair your board.

I'm not sure how you guys don't see this.

Compare it to the blue slot. There is a clear gap of plastic. I don't see any metal to bend..something clearly broke off.
