Default GA-EX58-UD3R not detecting one memory slot

Hey guys. Today I turned on my computer and it kept power cycling (turning on for one second and turning off repeatedly).

    Specs:
    GA-EX58-UD3R
    Intel Core i7-920
    PNY Nvidia GTX 470
    6GB G.skill DDR3-1600

I thought it was a RAM problem so I took out my RAM and tried them one at a time to no avail. Then I remembered I had a spare kit of memory (Crucial Ballistix 6GB DDR3-1333). So I plugged them into all three triple channel slots and turned on my computer and the same thing happened. Except this RAM has LED lights at the top (that light up during the one second my computer is on during these power cycles) and the stick plugged into slot 1 was not lighting up. So I tried the same stick in slot 3, it now lit up. No stick will light up in slot 1.

So I bought a PSU to test with and my computer boots absolutely fine with a new PSU. Tried plugging the old PSU in just to do a final test and it power cycled again. With the new PSU I still have the same RAM problem. Not sure how all the sudden that slot stopped working since the power cycling issue was a PSU-related problem.

Is there any fix or do I have to RMA the board?

Thanks. Just tried this, it's still not detecting any memory in that slot.

try loosening cpu heatsink slightly, quarter turn on each mounting screw, have you removed cpu lately? bent cpu socket pins can cause memory/slot issues

If ust one stick in slot 1 by itself does not work there is absolutely no point to try 3 sticks.
This may indocate the slot is faulty or you may have bent pins in the CPU socket.
You can remove the CPU to inspect the socket, or take a picture of it and post it here. The picture need to be taken with a digi cam macro mode, and good light.
All the above with great care of course, not to make things worse.

I don't have a good camera but the pins look completely normal. Put it all back together everything works fine except for that slot not detecting memory.

After close inspection of the slot, it appears something tiny has broken off. How could this have happened? Is that something I can fix? I am attaching a photo from my friend's camera: http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/2150/photofg.jpg - It's a high-res photo so zoom if you need to.

I am so upset right now. My motherboard should still be under warranty, it has been less than three years. They should cover wear and tear such as this, correct?
