    Default Weird problem

Z68XPUD4 has giving me more problems then any motherboard I have had, so much so I am looking at finding another motherboard to replace it.

Anyway my latest attempt at getting it going smoothly has come across a weird little annoyance. You know that noise you get when Windows detects your USB drive when it plugs in...well its happening on and off with out a drive being put in. Also Eset AV program brings up do I want to scan "E" drive but I dont have an "E" drive. As I am typing this it came up with "G" drive ...new drive detected but I dont have a "G" drive. This noise annoys the shat out of me.

btw: my latest attempt at a stable motherboard without lop boots etc etc had me movong my video card to the x8 slot , disabling onboard sound and using one of the small x2 slots ( previously my thick graphics card covered one and the other was a tight fit blocking of the fan for the graphics card and would cause heat problems ) for my Xonar sound card ) ,onboard sound now and then would do a quick freeze )....... its early days but the motherboard now seems stable without onboard sound enabled ( disabled in the bios )

Still this new drive detected is a little but still very annoying problem

Have you tried updating BIOS to the latest version?
Would that happen without your add-on sound card installed?

Also, test a clean windows install on another drive and see if this still happens, if you can. If not, does this happen in safe mode, or diagnostic startrup mode via msconfig?

Sleep mode may have something to do with it too, does it only happen after a resume from sleep?

Don't switch brands over this! If you are thinking of getting a new board, just wait a week or so and grab a Gigabyte Z77 instead, there will be none of these funky issues!

si soft sandra shows "E" & "G" as generic flash HS etc etc ... if I am correct it may have something to do with the card reader on the monitor....... will remove the cable and see how it goes

    That might be in then!

I've had issues with monitor and keyboard USB ports in the past, not sure why but the ones I have used in the past were normally 1.0 ports and that tended to cause funky things sometimes so that could just be what's going on here.
