The internet is a dangerous place. You cannot believe most of it. Most of the forums/websites out there about HPET are incorrect and have tons of false information. You should use trusted sources like this: BCDEdit /set (Windows Drivers)

Ah, using bcdedit /set useplatformclock true again, I'm now getting a frequency of 14.3 MHz. Why this did not happen before I'm not sure, unless I forgot to reboot.
Latency isn't too bad, I'll try it for a while.

Well first you tell me the command is wrong -even though it works perfectly fine-, then you lecture me on how dangerous the internet is. Since I've been around from the beginning of the internet I think I understand quite well how much bad information is out there.
But your post being one of those with incorrect information-that's what made me laugh!

But no offense meant, and no offense taken.

You are incorrect. The command as I entered it works fine.

But my question is still not answered, and I guess won't be since you've managed to drag this on.
    I'm done with it.

Well you said you are getting 14.3MHz QPC reading with this command enabled. That means HPET is implemented on the board and is turned on. You could also check your device manager and look for high precision event timer. I wouldn't recommend keeping that command enabled because it is there for debugging purposes only. It will not give you any performance gains and could in fact give you problems with certain drivers/programs. Also, all timers sync with HPET. Sorry for the inconvenience!
