I got new final bios (F23) here: http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...beta-bios.html
    Download from this site: Z77D3H.23

    Thank you...
Looking for anybody that can update/mode this official bios from Gigabyte?
There exists a modded bios F23B on this thread at first site, but this is a beta bios.

    Can anybody mod this F23?

    Unhappy Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R

Hi - I have an older GA-EP45-UD3R board that I am using with Unraid. I need to expand the system with additional hard drives. I bought a Supermicro PCI x8 SATA card hoping to use the video card slot for the SATA card. I hardly use the monitor and all management is done remotely, so replacing the video card seemed logical. What I did not realize is that this board 'requires' a PCI video card to be present or it will not post. Is there any way I can get around this issue? The two video options in the bios are PCI and PEG, none of which help the system to post without a video card. This is a great board and everything is working as it should, the limitation of a single PCIex slot for video card may end up costing as a significant upgrade cost. Any help is much appreciated!

The F23 Final (from April 2014) worked too. It is an official but have old oRoms. So not usefull.

I tested and verified the GA-Z77-D3H BIOS F23 mod and it worked perfekt (1 week). This modded Bios removed some hardware bugs.
Bug 1 Removed with F23Mod: Computer start automatic sometimes, fixed.
Bug 2 Removed with F23Mod: Hardware hang when play BF4 and some other Games with a GF560Ti. I think this is the same problem with other graphic cards I heared from graphic card support. The official bios have very old oRoms.
Better perfomance, the system is little faster and more stable.

No new problems found afer this f23modded bios now.

@ abctechie: there are numerous PCIe-1x and PCI video cards available, that would replace a normal PCIe-16x video card.
    Cheapest (~$18) on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9SIA4UB1T25480
There may also be some USB->VGA adapters that could (?) serve the same purpose, for what you're trying to do.

@vailr - Thanks and I was thinking on those lines. I was actually thinking about buying a 1x to x16 riser like this. What I am not sure is whether this Gigabyte EP45-UD3R board expects a video card to be plugged in the x16 slot for it to post or just a video card in any slot would suffice?

@ abctechie: any slot should work, whether PCIe-1x, PCI, or possibly even USB->VGA adapter.
May need to re-configure bios to "optimized default settings" prior to switching video cards, however.
