    I would like to ask if someone can help me unlock or at least help me doing so with an Gigabyte Ga-Ep35-Ds3p bios ? An usual bios, pre Uefi.
    Bios version F6 http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList...35-ds3p_f6.exe and I assume that the latest version of Modbin 6 should be used ?
    Link to what seems to be the latest version of Modbin. At least I have not been able to find some newer version. https://bios-mods.com/tools/index.ph...n6+v2.04.03%2F

    I need to have this bios unlocked so that I can use a lower memory multiplier than 2.0 which seems to get in my way when try to take a Quad 9550 12 mb L2 ceache, 2.8 Ghz higher than about 3.6 Ghz. That cpu is definitely able of going above 4 Ghz without any real problem on many other motherboards and I have a good cooler for my Q9550 as well.
    The Cpu multiplier only go to 8x and then +0.5 is available and that's it according to what I can see with Modbin. That forces me to up the Fsb which causes the RAM to to run unnecessarily high due to the enforced lowest 2x Ram multiplier. Clearly lower Multipliers are there in the bios according to Modbin, but are hidden so I can't select them from the currently locked bios.

    @Schaki

    Welcome to the forum.

    Chike is a long time forum member and he can provide excellent help with overclocking after you create an overclocking thread in the Gigabyte forum for your EP35-DS3P/Q9550 system. I've never heard of using a memory multiplier lower than 2.00 x.

    I had an easy time overclocking my Q9650 to 4.10GHz with my P35-DS4 rev:2.0 motherboard with 8GB of HyperX T1 DDR2-1066 memory.
    I would expect that you should be able to reach at least 3.80GHz using 8.5 x 450MHz with your memory at 900MHz.
    If your Q9550 has the original C0 stepping you might have a harder time getting a stable high overclock.

    FWIW, I had a much harder time with my Q9550 (E0) overclocking above 3.60GHz with my EP45-UD3P rev 1.1 motherboard but finally got it stable at 4.012GHz.

    The modified bios thread is not the place to discuss this further.

    Luckily I have the E0 which is the latest and best revision of Q9550. My EP35-Ds3p board is rev: 2.1 which is the latest revision of that board.

    Sniper M3 Z77 BIOS - (Based off of 10f)

    All components of BIOS are latest available. Updated to Intel RAID ROM 14.0.0.2209, it seems to perform a bit better than previous ones IMO.

    Download sniperm3raid14.rom from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way
