    @ creomortis:
The only situation where the bootable USB thumb drive method is required is when transitioning from "standard bios" to UEFI bios.
Otherwise, I recommend using the Gigabyte "@bios" version B12.0723.1 (Windows software) to do the bios flashing:
    GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 (rev. 1.0)
The latest beta bios for your Z68X-UD7-B3 board seems to be version F11a, which is evidently still a non-UEFI "standard bios".

Are you seriously recommending I use @BIOS? From the limited reading I have done on flashing this is a HUGE no no as it has the the potential to corrupt your bios and brick your board.

If you read my posts DOS flash was necessary because qflash would not see my USB drive.

The F11a bios from what I've read is very unstable. I appreciate you trying to help but if I was a complete noob and followed your instructions I would most likely be having issues coming out of my arse now.

@ creomortis: All I can say is: there was an instance of one particular bios update for my Z77 board that refused to complete while using the bootable (to DOS prompt) USB thumb drive method. Another Britisher on another forum said that he had used Gigabyte's @bios Windows program, and succeeded on the same board and bios version update. So: the exact @bios version that I recommended has worked fine since then for me.
Note: on the Gigabyte Z77 boards, there's a slide switch that allows selectable switching (while power is disconnected) from the primary to the backup bios. So: even on the off chance of a corrupted bios, one could easily recover by powering off the system, switch selecting the backup bios, and reboot as normal. Once booted, slide the selector switch back and re-flash the corrupted bios.
Does your Z68 board have a selector switch? Even if it doesn't, Gigabyte's "Dual Bios" would still allow recovery from a botched flash procedure.
Do I trust using the @bios program? Yes, I do. Older Windows bios flash programs may have had their problems, but Gigabyte's current Windows bios flash has worked flawlessly for me, at least.

GA-Z77X-UD5H - F15r now available + works fine for me:
    http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...beta-bios.html
    No release notes available.
Would be interested to know exactly which version firmwares are included, such as: Intel RST, MEI, cpu microcode, Intel LAN, etc. etc.

    *******

Edit: Intel RST is version 11.6.0.1702, per another forum posting.
Can someone update with the 12.0.0.1783 RST version firmware?
