you wont know the fans rpm's other than the brighter glow of the light depending on speed of fan ect (thats whith that lamptron unit),and the sound, just set them so that they are just audible and keep an eye on core temps, then speed up/slow down if and when needed

You would think as much as I've tinkered with my fans lately I would recognize them all by sound. Actually some I do, all the higher speed fans seem to have their own distinctive sound. The noctual fans are pretty darn quiet, though they only run at about 1245 rpm.

OK I think I found it. Good price, $8.xx . Would rather have 5.25" and probably 6 fan controller though. Currently have 5 fans + cpu cooler fans. I can't seem to find a happy medium for BIOS settings for cpu or case fans, and cpu fans don't ramp up fast enough to suit me, that's why I been going into bios to toggle disabled so they'll just run wide open when stress testing.

Default Re: Z77X-UD5H : System fan headers - curious behavior

Thought I post my two cents worth. I just put a GA-Z77X-UD5H/3570K system together and was concerned about which header to use for the H60 Pump. I have the two Blade Master 120 PWM fans (Push/Pull) connected to the CPU header. Using the BIOS default settings for the Case Fan Headers 1, 2, 3 and 4 and using several spare Corsair 120MM case fans (1200 max rpm, I think) I ended up with the following: Fan 1 ~634 rpm, Fan 2 ~1200 rpm, Fan 3 ~1070 rpm and Fan 4 ~1200 rpm. I have the CPU header setup as PWM and it seems to work as expected - the fans are running ~1000 rpm and increase as the cpu temp increases running Prime95.

As is usually the case when I fool around with a new computer setup I stumble into every possible issue. The two problems I have had so far with this system is the BIOS (F6) does not like the Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. I think several other people have had this same experience. I finally I dug out an old Microsoft USB keyboard and mouse so that I could get back in the BIOS and it seems happy for now. It is strange because the BIOS was working at first with the Logitech stuff?! And then as one would expect the new (on sale at NewEgg) SSD drive dropped dead after a day and a half just when I had the system setup and running the way I wanted it. Hopefully, I have a replacement from the manufacturer in a few days and get on with playing with the system. In the meantime I'm using a couple of old WD Black harddrives and i forgot just how slow fast used to be.

The Fan 4 header will run wide open all the time as you've seen. I was using the Fan 3 header for a Zalman pump until I moved it to another rig and it ran wide open on that one.
I'm using the Logitech Cordless EX 100 KB/mouse and it's worked fine through all the BIOS changes when plugged into a USB 2.0.
