Default GA-Z68XP-UD4 supports Ivy Bridge and PCI Express 3.0?

    Hi guys!

I'm interested in buying this motherboard (as it is fully compatbile with Mac OS X Lion and Hackintoshing in general) and wanted to ask you.

Does it FULLY support Ivy Bridge processors and PCI Express 3.0 graphics cards? By "FULLY" I mean does it takes all the PCI Expres 3.0 juice out?

    Thanks a lot!

    From GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-Z68XP-UD4 (rev. 1.3):

    Expansion Slots:
    1. 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
    * For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot.
    2. 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x8 (PCIEX8)
    * The PCIEX8 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX16 slot. When the PCIEX8 slot is populated, the PCIEX16 slot will operate at up to x8 mode.

(All PCI Express x16 slots conform to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)
    * To support PCI Express 3.0, you must install an Intel 22nm CPU.

    3. 2 x PCI Express x1 slots
(All PCI Express slots conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)
    4. 2 x PCI slots

From the Downloads => Bios section:

    F6
    1. Support Intel 22nm CPU E1 stepping
    2. Improve power on issue
    3. Update ME / CPU code

F5 Intel 22nm CPU support update

Looking at the rev 1.0 motherboard page, there is no mention of pci-e 3.0 support with a 22nm cpu.
With the 1.0 board, you should contact Gigabyte tech support to verify if pci-e 3.0 support is possible.

    Please check this out -> GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-Z68XP-UD4 (rev. 1.0)

and then go to the middle of the page. It says "Support Intel 22nm processors" and "Designed for PCI Express Gen.3 Support".. So I think it might support the Gen 3 after all.. right?

    Good point, but....
You're looking at the marketing page, I was referring to the specifications page.
Pci-e 3.0 support is claimed on the rev 1.3 spec page and is not mentioned in the rev 1.0 spec page.
That's why I suggested verifying pci-e 3.0 support with tech support for the rev 1.0 motherboard.

Maybe the rev 1.0 motherboard fully supports pci-e 3.0 bandwidth. Maybe not.
I never believe marketing poop....verify, verify, verify!!!

    My older pci-e 1.x systems both support my pci-e 2.0 video cards....but with pci-e 1.x bandwidth limits.

You won't be able to overclock an Ivy Bridge K processor until a bios update is released though.
Multiplier will be locked at 39x max.
