I just flashed my BIOS up to F6. I left everything auto for now except I enabled the internal graphics, disabled on board audio, and installed all the latest and greatest drivers per the Gigabyte website. I left the BLCK to Auto for now. If it crashes again (going to play some more vids in VLC) I'll try setting it back to 100.10 again and and turn off c6/c3. I did have one question for the BLCK setting, is it supposed to be 100.01 or 100.10?

EDIT: Lasted about 20 minutes before I froze again. Getting pretty frustrated and wondering if it wouldn't be better to just return the board.

I tried 100.1 and was stable for a while (several hours). But still had shutdown issues.
I am going with 101 instead.

I've downloaded the latest LinX provided by members of this board, and I still can't shake the error. I've tried different settings in the BIOS to no avail. Plus, the Prime95 test failed within seconds. May have to go with an Asus board.

I've read that most people are going with ASUS P8Z77 PRO.

I've ordered the P8Z77-V. I'll report back to this board w/ the results.

If you search the net you'll see Asus is having problems with Z77 as well. Things will smooth out after a while, a few people testing boards before they are released barely scratches the surface of potential problems.
But I understand being frustrated with problems with a brand new board, I've had them before and sure I will again. You gotta do what you need to do, maybe you'll get lucky on the next board.

Just found out there's supposed to be a new BIOS release coming soon, not sure if for the D3-or 5 boards or both, supposed to fix a lot of problems. Keep your fingers crossed.

if you just OC the CPU does it do this? Like if you OC to 4ghz with 1.2v.

to OP, if you've tested RAM properly and still random freezes, i think you may have a faulty board, RMA it
