Looking around I see some other Z77 boards from different manufacturers having USB 3.0/freezing problems, or so it seems like.
Then again I wonder about the dram thing. I have some G Skill 2400 and it runs just fine, board recognizes profiles and sets everything right. But I can't get the thing to boot if I try to get a higher clock even with looser timings.

All kidding aside, it will help if everyone's forum signature and/or PC Specs includes how many modules X memory size per module, such as 2x4GB, 4x4GB, etc.
Personally, I block all signatures out of habit (and for sanity, and for not wasting time reading useless information). We've got those great pull-down menus next to our names for system specs -- that's the place to look.

Bear in mind you will probably see more people with problems than not posting in these threads. Anytime something new comes out it takes a while for the BIOS updates to get optimized.
On the other hand, these boards are very good with overclocking, there's a lot of versatility built in which allows you to go about it in different ways, depending on the board itself and the cpu.

Just an update since updating to the official F7 BIOS.

I was able to reset to optimized defaults, enable my XMP profile/onboard video. I got into Windows 7, launched EasyTune6 -- set it to the middle option (4.43 GHZ @ 103.3 BCLK) and I have not had an issue since. I reflashed the F4 BIOS and I was freezing in seconds. Flashed back to F7 -- no problems.

I didn't have a single lock up / freeze since i removed the USB3.0 driver and updated to the F8 bios.

Thumbs up Re: GZ-Z77X-UD5H Random freezing and shutdowns.

Well I finally took the plunge and scrapped my old HP desktop and built my pc with z77x u5dh from scan with 16gb of vengeance LP memory and I7 3770k cpu. Initially it was freezing or other hiccups on F4 to F6. Now running fine with Lastest from Gigabyte site F7 I hacked bios to put HP slic 2.1 in save trouble activating etc with my drive from old pc all works a dream, updated to win8 cp today and runs no problem, ran aida64 24hrs with clock at 4.5 idle is 38 and max about 68 with corsair h80, ordered an xpc rasa kit which should knock the socks of the corsair and give a better overclock. I have built a few machines over the years both intel and amd and preferred asus boards but for price this board is first class in my opinion makers will iron out the gremlins over the next couple of updates that some are having.

Glad to see people getting better results. I had a few USB 3.0 glitches along the way but it seems to be functioning fine with the last few BIOS updates. I got the Gigabyte supplied USB 3.0 ports up front and using the 1st Intel USB 3.0 header and everything seems OK.
I've been having fun using different methods of overclocking, now that I've made a 12 hour run with Prime 95 I'm going to settle in and work on bringing the vcore/temps down a little more.

I've replaced my Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H with the ASUS P8Z77-V due to random freezes and blue screen of death crashes occurring at least once a day. After replacing the Gigabyte, I found out that one of my Corsair vengeance 8gb RAM sticks was faulty - but with the new board and sans the faulty ram stick, I've been going 5 days in a row without a single hiccup, and have run LinX and Prime95 tests all night long without issues.
