    Hello everyone. I've been sitting comfortably at 3.7 on my EP45-DS3R rig the last 2-3 years. The DS3R crapped out & I was able to find a UD3P mobo to put in her place. I'd like to see if I can finally get to the elusive 4.0 with this board. I believe with your guidance, 4.0 will be achieved. The rest of the rig is in my sig. I'm currently using the F8 bios at optimized defaults. Do you need all the bios settings? Thanks.

    Congrats on the new motherboard. Depending on how well your cpu cooler is it should be very doable.

    If you are using Optimized Defaults that means all voltages are on auto, correct? I would suggest installing ET6 ver B11.0823.1 if you can if not let me know and I can upload this version for you. The newest one has issues with X58. This will tell you what voltages are being set by AUTO. Once you find them you can enter those voltages in manually and then test for stability and keep lowering them a little bit at a time until you get them as low as possible while still remaining stable.

    Once you have those voltages you can grab a bios temp from the link in my sig and fill it out and we can work on getting you to the Magical 4.0 GHZ.

    For testing stability I recommend either Prime95 or LinX. Prime95 you have to run for a few hrs 2-4hrs or longer for stability or use LinX and test will be alot shorter. The thing with LinX is that it will push the cpu harder then Prime95 will so you must keep a eye on your "Core" temps, which you should do with either program.

    For core temps I recommend using RealTemp, or you can use Core Temp. The idea is to keep core temps at or below 80c for 24/7 use.

    Perhaps you would want to upgrade to BIOS F10, up to you of course.

    Overclocking the UD3P is the same as the DS3R, could u post the 3.7GHz settings if you have them, just for reference.

    yeah and put memory on a lowish divider, to take it out of the equation while tweaking the cpu. so you can focus on one thing at the time.

    Hey thanks for jumping in guys (gals?). I am running ET6 Version B11.0823.1 already. The bios says all voltages are set to auto. I will include a screenshot of ET6. I am going to update the bios to F10. The notes say it will help with memory compatibility. I'm very confident my cpu cooler with hold up fine. My temps on the DS3R board never exceeded 58c under load. I am also pasting in my previous template.

    Those settings look like good starting point, but I would try to lower VTT and MCH Core.
    VTT at default if possible, not over 1.24v and MCH Core 1.16-1.24v.
    DRAM Termination and channel refernces can be left auto, onlu CPU/MCH References may need tweaking.

    Well I'm back at the optimized defaults. I had set up the bios as per the template. When I ran IBT, it crashed immediately. I tinkered with Vcore & MCH without success. I noticed a couple additional settings that my DS3R board did not have. One was Line Load Calibration, & the other is ICH Core. I enabled LLC, to get rid of vdroop. ICH Core I left at default (1.10).

    IBT is not the best stability program to run. I only use it to make sure GFLops are as expected.
    Run memtest86+ before runing windows to make sure memory settngs are not horrible.
    Nest run an hor or 2 of Prime95 small FTT, followed by 1-2 hours large FFT. For final test 8+ hours Prime95 blend torture.
    Prime gives better indication where the problem is. If it is small FFT it's likely to be vcore/pll settins if its large FFT VTT/MCH/DRam voltage and/or timings.
    Do you know the procedure for adjusting MCH/CPU refernces?

    I will run Prime95 in the morning. Please refresh my memory on MCH/CPU references. I believe they are based on a percentage of another setting?

    Yes both are percent of VTT(CPU Termination).
    To make sure we keep track of what value is actually being use without doingt too much math we change them always when VTT is set to 1.2v and then change VTT to the value we want it to be.
    Also list that value in the template e.g.:
    MCH Reference : 0.744 ; 0.72 @ 1.2v VTT
    or just
    MCH Reference : 0.72 @ 1.2v VTT

    EasyTune always show the value at 1.2VTT regardless what VTT is set to.
