Yes, I'm Sticking with the 3770K.

I just ordered the rest of my stuff. Almost forgot the burner. I went with the WiFi MoBo Board.

    Thank You,

I just got a response from Directron

    OK Guys,

Its all on order but for the CPU. While I wait I would enjoy hearing suggestions on any carte blanch BIOS settings that are customary?
I am not interested in clocking the CPU as much as setting the RAM up to optimization for what it is. And any common things it ships with that should be tweaked.
I will be running RAID1 for my OS Drive, and may have a RAID1 storage set as well. No SSD yet. Only the OS Drives will be 6GB/sec, the rest are 3GB.

For Example - I still have a sticky note on my desk that says:
    Smart - Enable
    HALT - Disable
    EIST - Disable
My DRAM Voltage was 2.1 for the RAM I had.
SATA RAID - AHCI = RAID
    Port 03 - Disabled
    HPT - Enabled / 64 Bit
    Legacy - Disabled

    My RAM Specs -
    SAMSUNG Model - MV-3V4G3/US[/URL]
    Type - 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM
    Capacity - 4GB
    Speed - DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
    Cas Latency - 11
    Timing - 11-11-11-28
    Voltage - 1.35V
    ECC - No
    Buffered/Registered - Unbuffered
    ==================================
Anything else you may have in mind would be great. I have so much to learn and catchup on like -

Radiator fan placements? Only starting out with the RASA RS240 up top so should I mount the fans above or below the Radiator? I see example pics of both around the net.
Flow? Pump to Block to Radiator to Reservoir?

Then there all these other fan options. There is a place to put one behind the mobo and under the case forward of the PSU. Do I push or pull? Do I even bother? If I buy fans, what speeds?

    I LOVE this stuff!

for the ram id manualy set dram voltage to 1.55v and speed to 2133mhz,set timings as 10-10-10-28-1t,should run at that speed, test for stability with prime 95 blend test or memtest86,if you leave dram voltage on auto it will just use 1.35v which wont be enough for 2133mhz

Thanks, Will do on the RAM. If you look at the newegg RAM link I added some of the guys that reviewed the RAM have posted their settings there. Nice of them too.

I seen your post on the fan controls and found some nice looking splitters @ CyberGuys.

The have a nice collection of all kinds of interesting adapters on that site too.

I love TweakTown but think she is so loaded down with sponsor content she is crashing often.

Search Results : Performance-PCs.com, ... sleeve it and they will come
Same price as Newegg was on cpu. I was trying to post this last night but couldn't even get on the forum.
Push on the fans at top inside of case if you can would be my suggestion. If you want quieter fans go Yate Loon or Gentle Typhoons is what I've been told. I've got a couple of the Yate Loon w/UV coming today I hope.
I think the fpi (fins per inch) on the RS240 is 14? That would probably require more static pressure than my RX240 which I think is about 8 fpi.

    Thanks,

    Looks like I'll push then.

I called Performance-PC and besides wanting $10.00 Shipping they took me on a dizzying description on exactly what they had in stock. So I backed out to wait for Newegg's free shipping and will most likely combine other items on the same order.

Do you guys control the RAD fans via the CPU temp demand or a constant setting on the controller. It sounds like both, I'm a tad confused. I guess I need a drawing eh?

I just posted a question and pic over at the ocn XSPC RSxxx club thread about my case and fan flow options. Have a look at the pic below. What would you do?

I've never run a rad on the top of a case before, the two times I've installed a rad I was able to put it in the bottom (240mm) or back of the case (120mm), but I normally let heat rise and have all the side/front/rear/bottom fans blowing in and have the top fans blowing out.

On most cases I deal with, this works well because I'll have (2-4) 120mm fans blowing in and have (2-3)140mm or (2)230mm fans blowing out... imo you want to try and keep the input/output air pressure near even so no residual hot air stays in the case.

I run all my fans off the fan controller. Just got the new Yate Loons installed and they are pretty quiet 1500 rpm fans, with the original XSPC fans I was turning them <1200 rpm when not under heavy load to keep noise down.
Did you decide whether to mount inside the case at top like I was talking about? Or will it fit there? If so just mount the fans on the bottom blowing out and keep your rear fan blowing out and you'll probably come close to equalizing the air pressure in the case with your other fans blowing in. Just have to try everything and see.

Getting back to your sticky note, do you mean that was stuff you had disabled on your old board? I would not disable any of the power saving options unless you decide to do a fairly high OC and find you need to and I think the only thing I changed was up the power limit to 300 and the current limit to 200. If overclocking you will probably want to set power options in Windows to Performance.

Default Re: Looking @ A New Build - Been Out Of It A While - Help Me Spend My Money

    Thanks,

To confess, I'm not too schooled on overclocking. Back then I was all over the boards reading and asking I found those settings were pretty much what they all were doing right out of the box on the GA-P45-UD3P boards with the Q6600. And when I asked its what was suggested. I did that and dialed in the RAM according to Corsair's recommendation and she still runs pretty good.

But things are different now eh? It looks like I'll tweak the RAM and then let her run and load it up. I am using it to type here. I really have no urgent need to replace this system,,,,,,, I just want to eh? Its time.

I see only 4 feedback posts on NewEgg on this WiFi board and they are all good.

Yes the radiator is going to fit up top. It seems tailor made. If I read you right I'll have the fans on top pushing the air through the radiator into the case. Yes?

Then there is the fans in front of the HDDs' pushing in.
I'll put a 140mm medium fan on the bottom and see if that will pull some heat out that comes down from the radiator and between the HDDs'.
The door fan will blow in on the GPU I guess.
So.... I'll have a 120 on the back and a 140 on the bottom exhausting.

I can put a low speed fan behind the MoBo puffing on the back of the CPU portion of the board? Unless the stand-offs that come with the MoBo are longer it looks like I'll need a 20mm thick fan. I mounted a 25mm and put a level across the stand-offs and the fan was just a teeny-weeny above them.

I have tracking numbers on everything. My RAM, RASA RS240 & Win7 are here. No CPU in sight.
