As far as I know Sys_fan headers are controlled by system temperature so you probably won't see them ramping up and down very much. Speedfan will give you more control options.

Makes sense, that's kinda what I figured. Thanks for confirming!

I tried EasyTune6, it does allow to set temps for ramp up and full speed of both the Sys_fans and CPU-fan. I'd prefer to get by without EasyTune though and just set everything straight from the BIOS. EasyTune has crashed on me when I'm overclocking and for those scenarios I'd prefer to not have my fans fail because of a software issue.

Haven't tried ET for a long time but Speedfan does work fine, with it you can also link Sys_fan headers to other temperatures like cpu or gpu sensors.

You can still only link cpu fan header and sys_fan 1 with speedfan.

In speedfan, I use Speed1 to control the cpu fan header. Then I set pwm2 mode to "software controlled". This lets me use Speed2 in speedfan to directly control sys_fan 1. It has a Speed3 that doesn't control anything. I've set it to every possible setting in the advanced controls in speedfan.

I've tried attaching pwm fans to sys_fan headers 2 and 3, and tried using Speed1, Speed2, and Speed3 to control the fans, but its not working.

I think Gigabyte is wrong in their manual (not the first time they are wrong). And everyone else is this thread is mistaken.

Only cpu fan header and sys_fan 1 header can control fans. Please prove me wrong because I want to desparately control my other fans.

Sys_fan headers 1,2 and 3 work together. When for example you set Speed2 to 50% header 1 outputs 6 V and headers 2 and 3 output 50 % PWM signal.

What setting do you set in the bios?

What setting do you set in the speedfan advanced controls?

Bios settings shouldn't matter, Speedfan overrides them, but I have set system fans to silent profile. Advanced controls look like this :

At the moment I only have Akasa Apache PWM fans connected to Sys_fan2 header, nothing on headers 1 and 3 but even this clearly shows that PWM control on headers 2 and 3 works.

Sys_fan control set to 0 %, fans run a bit under their specified 600 rpm min speed :

Sys_fan control at 50 %, fans running at half speed :

Sys_fan control at 100 %, fans running a bit over their specified 1300 rpm max speed :

This was with Z77X-UD3H board, UD5H behaves exactly same way

    interesting.

i was expecting 0% to have the fan shutoff. I'll have test it out again.

i was also running speedfan 4.44, but still i didn't see anything important in the change logs up to 4.48.

PWM fans running from a PWM header never stop, if I had had a fan connected to Sys_fan1 header that uses voltage control it would have stopped.

    Wow! It works.

Is there a way to have 1 of the system fans being controlled off the cpu fan speed?
