Be sure to disable Keep DMI Data before flashing with QFlash.
I always flash with non-overclocked bios settings.

Let us know how your new ssd performs.
Yeah I read that once and read some tips people (including you) had posted, but when the time comes I'll re-read it all again and let you guys know how it goes. Hopefuly all goes smoothly. :)

    SHOW OFF!
You can probably get sata3 speeds with a compatible controller card.
Just be sure that your system will be able to boot from add-in controller card.
Realistically, your 830 at sata2 speeds will be a HUGE improvement.

Yeah I'm not too bothered by the SATA2 bottleneck. The good/bad news comes from this poster:

    Gigabyte X48-DQ6 + Samsung SSD 830?

Good news is that the newer BIOS for my motherboard seems to speed up the AHCI boot process (currently it'll sit there for like 5 seconds scanning...even though I literally have one device plugged (my hdd)) and the bad news is that he seems to be having problems getting his Samsung 830 to work with the motherboard even after the BIOS firmware update. :(!

The AHCI scanning on my system takes about the same amount of time and I have one of each: ssd, hdd, and optical drive.
I didn't see if mention of problems recognizing his drive in the link you provided.
    Don't worry, be happy

RichieBoy's PC Spec listing doesn't include very many details and we don't know what specific problems he's having.
He should post a detailed description of his problems and what steps he has taken.
We don't know if the problem is:
    - his system doesn't recognize his ssd
    - is he using AHCI mode?
    - which sata port is the ssd connected to?
    - did he do a new o/s install?
    - is he copying a previous o/s installation to his ssd?
Both of my motherboards are as old or older than the X48-DQ6 and my ssd's have had no problems.

If you need additional help, you need to provide a detailed hardware list in your forum signature or by filling in the PC Specs.
I don't waste my time trying to help when we don't know the full hardware setup.

Yeah I told him to make a thread instead but I'll keep in touch with him in PM's if he's uncomfortable with posting etc. I'll also fill out my tech details, I tried when I first signed up but it wouldn't save. Perhaps the bug is fixed now? ^_^

I reported that the PC Specs wasn't working on Thursday, one week ago.
PC Specs was fixed several days later on Saturday and should still be working now.
If PC Specs does not save the data, PM me.
The symptom is that when you save the data, a prompt briefly appears saying that the data was saved, but there won't be any saved information in the PC Specs fields.

This is the standard message I post to new forum members:

We can best help you after you create a detailed hardware list in the PC Specs portion of your forum profile http://forums.tweaktown.com/profile.php?do=editprofile at the bottom of the profile page or in your forum signature http://forums.tweaktown.com/profile....=editsignature.
