Hi again, since my last post all i have been doing it monitoring and testing with both gpu's in the 8x pci e slots and im afraid its bad news again even with the gpu's in 8x slots im still getting the random freez ups sometimes even while playing ghost recon online game, im prety sure now that its something to do with the VDDC on the older gpu, as in the screen shots i osted above the VDDC on the second gpu "NEVER" clocks down, i have now swaped the cards around still in the 8x slots and even useing the older gpu now as gpu 1 the VDDC still remains always @ 1.148v where as when the newer gpu was being used as the first gpu VDDC on that card would clock down when idle as in fact now the newer gpu is gpu 2 and the VDDC is @ O.950 where it should be while idle, also on the older gpu the 12v is always @ 12.13v i dont know if that should clock down be default or not as the newer gpu doesnt give that reading, im at my wits end here lol i wish i had stuck to the 1 gpu in the first place, its not even that im overclocking either as both gpu's are @ stock,
i dont understand anything about the ULPS but im prety sure if i disable it then neither card will clock down when idle so i have left that alone, im an now from this morning trying driver version 11.12 as i read somewhere in a forum that some ppl are getting better crossfire from useing those drivers

i dont think it does clock down completely though if in xfire? not as low as it would a single card? have you considered a single 7950 and maybe sell the 6850's? i dont know how they compare to a single 7950 but it would be close

sorry if thats a cheap get out,but i think your having alot of problems at the minute with xfire

heres comparison single cards,6850 is half the speed of a 7850

i think a single 7950 would be great other than iv just gone bankrupt in the last few weeks lol so no credit to get something new.
im going to download and install saphire trixx as i dont like msi afterburner and try downclocking the memory clocks again on both gpu's now there in the 8x slots and see what that does again, i can see that under clocking will change the VDDC or anything but it did help the last time i underclocked when you sugested that earlier in this thread , thanks wazza
1 other thing with my system overclock still the same as before in this post im not to sure what my command rate should be set to, i have set that to 2T atm

you can try 1t,without touching voltages, try underclocking the problematic cards memory a touch,it could be just that card thats a little faulty,i know times are tough atm but id still consider selling them for as much as possible and go for a single card, its far less hassle and is easier on power consumption/heat

Hi just wondering if anyone is out there need some more help, after all the probs above in this thread I finaly got enough cash together and upgraded my graphics card to a PNY GTX 660 ti and it came today, used driver sweeper to remove the ati drivers for the single HD 6850 iv been stuck with for months restarted the system, turnt off the system changed the gpu's over to the gtx 660 ti and rebooted I installed new NVidia drivers the latest ones and restarted then went and ran heaven benchmark, first run froze then crashed just like it used to with 2x HD 6850 so after a reboot I then tried running 3d mark 11 and the same again froze to black screen then crashed, any ideas now what the problem is ???? im stuck but it looks like the x58 motherboard cant run graphics more than a single HD 6850 and I just know that's not right, any help would be great thanks

    happy new year

the thing is your running 12gb,last time i ran 12gb i needed atleast 1.375v qpi/vtt and the cpu was at stock slocks, memory was at 1600mhz,you might need even more,id try atleast 1.38v qpi/vtt,dont worry your still safe to use that much

another quick test would be to pull 6gb out temporarily and run with 1.32v-1.35v qpi/vtt and see if it still locks up in games

try with 1.37v qpi/vtt you might need more it depends on your cpu's imc (integrated memory controller)

also what cpu speed are you using and voltages at load?
