I will post all the details soon Jim.

Ive been running a blend test thats well into its 5th hour with no issues. I will stop that now and change to the large FFT one. I will also do the zip/unzip test.

One thing I noticed, last Friday, was that when I turn the pc on at the switch, it goes for 1sec, then turns off for 1sec, then starts as normal...like a delay in starting. Any ideas on this? I cant pin point a setting or an exact time when this changed.

Yes it has been an odyssey to say the least.

The power on "two-step" is normal with some overclocked systems.
My system usually doesn't do the two-step boot, but sometimes will do it if there is a sudden unexpected shut down.
My initial post screen with cpu and memory speeds often goes by too quickly for me to verify that the overclocked settings are still being applied.
I can see the cpu speeds from System Monitor II, CoreTemp, or RealTemp when at the windows desktop.
    Don't worry, be happy.

OK got a 0x000124 BSOD again...almost 3 hrs into a large fft test... but the blend test went for 5hrs without a fail...so the extra ram might have to come out. I have tweaked a couple of voltages, and see how we go. MCH up to 1.30...Is this ok ot too much (from your previous post Jim_?

    Details!!
MCH Core = 1.30 is safe to use, but the goal is to use the lowest setting that is stable.
Which bios settings did you change from your stable 425MHz profile?
Did you try increasing cpu vcore voltage after the 0x124 BSOD?
Which specific MCH Core voltage settings did you try?
It will help if you post an ET6 screen-shot that shows all of the applied voltages and reference settings and include only the changed bios settings.
You should have learned by now that the devil really is in the details.
Please include a link to the memory specifications from the manufacturer's website for each memory kit.

It might be useful to boot with only your 2 x 1GB memory installed to see if they pass the large FFT test.

I got another BSOD Jim within the first hour this time.

So, given the distance and time since this journey began has been long, I've decided to take the 2x1gb out and leave it as is.....as I know it works.

If I feel inclined, I may start to tinker down the track, but maybe its time to let sleeping dogs lie, so to speak, and run with whats working. I'm over it...LOL

Yes the devil is in the detail, but this devil has had enough overclocking for a while Once again I thank you for all your help along the way.

I know who I can rely on in the future...PROFJIM...the guru.

    You're welcome.
It takes a LOT of patience to overclock and perform extended stress testing.
Use your system with 4GB and occasionally monitor the memory and swapfile usage; you will probably find that 4GB of ram is good enough to meet your needs.
    Enjoy your overclocked system.

I will enjoy, and I will check the memory and swapfile occasionally. My legacy here is that all the details are above, and it may someday help someone else do what I have done.

If I ever lose the settings (god forbid), I know where to come back to get them...(I have 3 profiles saved so we should be fine)

You can also save your bios and all profiles to any FAT16 or FAT32 storage medium by using QFlash.
To reload the saved bios file, it must be on a FAT16 or FAT32 partition or root drive.
There are instructions in the bios section of your user manual or you can read the excellent http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...ash-guide.html
