    Default Re: Q9400 Overclock EP45T DS3R Help

I tried manual again, got an error on boot. Set back to auto, and the static read values have gone back to 10 on both channels.
I hate to keep harping on details, but....
What was the error? Boot loop? BSOD? Prime95 error? Something else?
Which settings did you change when you changed DRAM Timing Selectable from AUTO to Manual?
Did you change anything other than Static tRead Value for memory channels A & B?
Were both tRD values set to the same value? Did you use tRD = 8 for each channel.

Q9400 Overclock EP45T DS3R Help, post #49 shows Memset values for memory channels A and B, along with the SPD window when you click on the ">>" and SPD buttons. It's best to show the values for both memory channels at the same time.

DRAM voltage = 1.60 volts is too high, especially with your DDR3 1069MHz speed.
Your memory is rated for 1.5V (1.425V ~1.575V) and 1.60V shouldn't be needed.
Try 1.50 volts and possibly one or two clicks higher if needed, higher memory voltages might be part of the problem.

Which memory slots are you using? Slots DDR3_1 and DDR3_3?
Check the Installing Memory section in the motherboard user manual for more information.
You can't go by the value displayed in the bios.

Whenever you are changing bios settings, always press CTRL+F1 at the same time when you're at the main bios screen before you make any changes, this will show all hidden bios settings.

Whenever you add or remove any hardware, always press and hold the front panel on/off power switch for 10 - 15 seconds AFTER you have unplugged the power supply cable from the wall outlet or the back of the power supply.

It's good that your system appears stable with your current settings, but the primary memory timings and Static tRead Values are far from optimal. It's been a long day, so I'll post my suggestions Saturday evening, my local time (PDT).

If you have the time, run the Prime95 small FFT test for at least 3 hours.
If you're into gaming or running any intensive programs, these are useful stress tests.

Another valuable stress test is to create a very large temporary zip file that will contain 5 - 10 gigabytes of files/folders using 7-Zip or WinZip.
Test the integrity of the large zip archive and then unzip the archive to a temporary location.
If there are any errors during these steps, your system is not stable.
I use two large file folders for this test; the My Documents folder and a backup folder for my downloaded software files.

Report the details and results of any additional stress tests that you run.

Here's the results from the small fft tests...3hrs 39min...no errors...smooth as silk. temps were about the same...61deg high, and 39 low.....all settings remain unchanged from previous settings.
