this is whats happening, when I boot up it goes to POST screen then the Options screen then prompts me to choose Windows 7, then the logo appears only then it locks up, for a split second I see a bsod screen, then it reboots, prompts me to initiate Start Up Repair, although it doesnt repair any thing, lol. I am at the point of returning the MB in exchange for a different one. I never had this ever happen to me in the past 7 years building PC's, I build my own PC's. This one has me flustered. IMHO I think the HDD nor POST isnt detecting my GPU, as if I booted with out even ON Board Video chip set Drivers, muchless my GPU, as if my GPU is Bricked, and I know it isnt due to it working in the Dell Im currently using .. I even purchaced a new TR2 600w Thermaltake PSU, and that wasnt the problem. Man this is depressing. I just dont know what to do any more. Thanks for your assistance. Im going to get this beast working.

Please provide a link to your memory's full specs from the Corsair website.
    Your "1x8GB" description; is this a single 8GB memory module? A 2 x 4GB matched memory kit?
What is the full model number of your memory?
If you're using a 2 x 4GB kit, try booting with only one module installed in the recommended memory slot.

This is my Memory Module 1x 8GB 1600

As far as the MB listed placement order is: 1-3 2-4.
I have tried it in every Slot, to no avail. Do you think my Module may be at fault, or defective? I never thought about that. Only way to test is take back to the place of purchase. I knew going from DDR2 to DDR3 was going to be a hassle, and the price was too good to be true, lol. BTW Im a Gamer, WWII Aviation Simulations.

Check the memory support list for your motherboard on the Gigabyte website and see if there are any 8GB single modules listed.
The support list covers a small sample of compatible memory kits and many unlisted kits will work.
Can you borrow a 4GB memory module to test with?
There might be some compatibility issues with your memory and your motherboard.
Have you found any memory or motherboard reviews that show that your memory works with your motherboard.
Some memory manufacturers list which motherboard models are compatible with each memory kit.

I just noticed that Corsair mentions "2nd Generation Intel."
Some memory kits are specifically labeled for AMD and some for Intel.
You can create a bootable floppy, usb, or optical disk using Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool and run memory tests without booting into windows.

Unhappy Re: Help with new GA-990F XA-UD3

I cant beleive I am stumped and the only thing left to do is exchange the 990F XA with a different (but definitely Gigabyte MB) and try that. so depressing. :-(

Prof Jim, you have a very good point as on the box is Intel, and nothing about AMD, interesting point. Well Im taking both the Mem stick and MB back to the store and let them try to diagnostic check them out.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out.
You should also bring your power supply for testing.
