Default EP45T-UD3P trying to run 8GB RAM getting BSOD - BIOS help please!

Hey all, seems like a decent forum here so thought I'd bung this question up and see if anyone has any suggestions for me.

Got a stable system on 4GB (2x2GB) kingston RAM in a GA-EP45T-UD3P (F7 bios version) with a Q9550 processor (NO OC at all). Picked up another couple sticks (KVR1333D3N9k2/4G - identical to the current set) to get another year out of the system to bring the total up to 8GB RAM. Boots into windows fine but once the RAM usage ticks up into the higher levels it BSODs. Memtest checks out no worries, both pairs work fine on their own just chucks a hissy fit if they are all in together.

Figure I just need to tweak the voltages in BIOS slightly. Sticks have been gathering dust for a couple months as I'm not game to try tweaking anything but thought I'd see if anyone has any suggestions :) thanks in advance!!

Which version of Memtest did you use and how long was each test.
What is the BSOD error code? It will be similar to 0x1E, 0x50, etc.
The version number of your motherboard is in the lower left (rear) corner of the motherboard, what is it? 1.0? 1.1?

    Follow steps 3 & 4 in http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...tml#post295784, post #5.
Copy the generic bios template in the bottom of the post (in the Code section) into a plain text editor such as NotePad and accurately fill in your current bios settings.
Post your settings in your next reply along with a cropped screen-shot from step #3.

    MCH Core = 1.20 - 1.26 might be needed.
Dram Voltage probably needs to be somewhat higher.

Hmmmmm. Thoroughly confused here. Just tried it again with the exact same configuration for the first time in a little over a year in order to gather the information you asked for but when I stressed it to try to reproduce the bsod everything was all fine! (same sticks, same slots, same bios settings - only thing that has changed hardware wise is an extra hard drive. Though I have reformatted since then... could be a derpy windows thing?) Got it up to 7.89GB memory use (with about 12GB virtual memory use as well - wtf?) by opening a million chrome windows and a couple of memory intensive games. No dramas at all.

Think its something that is likely to start spontaneously occurring again or am I free and clear? Bloody stoked if it's all good!

I hate to burst your joyous bubble, but you are in no way free and clear

To ensure that your system is mostly stable, there is no substitute to running three different Prime95 stress tests using the Small FFT, Large FFT and Blend tests were you run each test separately for at least 6 - 12 hours. Actually this applies to an overclocked system, but you should perform the Prime95 Large FFT test which heavily stresses your memory. Failure to adequate stress test your system might cause file corruption in programs, data files, photos, music, etc. even if you don't get any random BSODs.

Download and install Resplendence Software - WhoCrashed, automatic crash dump analyzer (freeware).
Running the program will read the windows error logs and mini-dumps for each BSOD and will report information that will hopefully point to the cause.

Do the following to disable system auto restart when a BSOD occurs:
Go to Control Panel --> System --> Advanced System Settings --> Advanced Tab --> Start Up and Recovery section --> click on Settings --> and then uncheck the box that says Automatically Restart in the System Failure section.

Post the results of the WhoCrashed report.
