    Default 790xt-ud4

    Will a fx 6300 cpu fit/boot/run on a 790xt_ud4.I know the docs say no,but it looks like it will physically fit.Mobo has latest bios.It is out of warrenty,so what would happen if I try it ?

    the CPU is an AM3+ and the MB is an AM3. typically the CPU's are forward compatible, not backwards compatible....

    so an AM3 CPU will work in an AM3+ Motherboard, not the other way around.

    right now I can't get to gigabytes motherboard page to confirm the CPU in the Supported CPU listing.

    CPU = AMD 1090T
    Mem = 16GB 1600Mhz Kingston RED Limited Edition running at 1600Mhz
    MB = Gigabyte 790FXTA-UD5
    GPU- EVGA GT210
    HD = too many to count, but about 5TB of storage all together including backup
    PSU = Corsair TX750
    Case = Too embarrassed to mention.
