The U1C bios file downloaded from China has the correct names and the file dates are August, September and October, 2012.
Another option you can try is to only copy the FLASHEFI.exe and Z68XUD4.U1D files to your bootable usb drive. It is a usb 2.0 flash drive, correct?
After you successfully boot to the usb flash drive, you will manually type FLASHEFI Z68XUD4.U1D and then pray.
If there any problems, write down and post any error messages.
It might take 5 minutes or longer for the flash to complete.
After your system starts to post again, shut down your system immediately and do not boot into windows.
Wait five minutes, turn on your system and boot into the bios.
If there is an option to "Load Optimized Bios Defaults", do it save settings and exit, then boot back into the bios to make any bios changes required for your system to boot using the same bios settings that you currently have with your U1C bios. Finally you can enter the bios and see which voltage settings you can now change.

    Clear as mud?

I'll give it a go but we don't know if I should be using q flash instead.

No luck, you must have to use Q-Flash when going from UEFI bios to UEFI. But I can't do that because the U1C bios wont detect my USB stick.
This is starting to piss me off. I'm gonna wait and see if Gigabyte even think there is a bios that allows ivy bridge vcore control on the z68's.
I just accidentally deleted about 15 new release games off a second HDD. fml.
Thank for the help trouble shooting.

Be patient, hopefully Stasio or an experienced z68x-ud4-b3 owner can advise on the best way to go from here.
Can you try using a smaller size and or brand of usb flash drive?
I've seen several threads where changing the flash drive sometimes makes a difference.
You could also try creating a bootable optical drive for flashing using FLASHEFI with and/or without Autoexec.bat.

Before I spend any more time on this I want to know wether I use q-flash or not and wether voltage control is even avalible. I have spent two nearly two days on this issue.

Well I updated to U1D and there is still no voltage control. This is ridiculous .

What an absolute nightmare. After updating to U1D I installed Easytune and there are voltage controls avalible. However none of the quick tune overclocks are stable. So what I was doing was setting the multiplier up to 45 in the bios and then upping the vcore in Easytune.
All good in theory but I got up to 4.7 and of course it wont boot into windows because Easytune hasn't loaded to up the voltage.
So the overclock is stuck at 4.7 with not enough voltage, I can't even get into the bios...
Had to clear the CMOS by removing the battery. All good for now, but I've given up on Easytune.
So I'm back on 4.2 ghz and waiting for a bios update from Gigabyte or an RMA.

So,save 4.7 profile (hope is stable) done with ET6.
Boot with 4.2,start ET6 (you can even set "Auto load last save on next reboot") and apply 4.7 profile in Windows.
    Will send you PM.
