    Unhappy GA-970A-D3 problem with Phenom II BE 550 unlocking

    Hi.

    Today I bought GA-970A-D3 motherboard (switched from MA770-UD3P) and now I have problem - Win7 64bit freezes at random points on unlocked Phenom (4 cores instead of 2). On last motherboard everything was working fine without any problems. Now I need to use 2 cores again on the new mobo.

    I was reading alot and got to a point, where people were pointing to vdroop problems on 970 - I have disabled C&Q, EasySaver and all the rest - still Win7 hang on 4 cores - 2 cores works perfectly.

    Is there a way to run smoothly on 4 cores (like it was on 770 mobo)?

    newest bios (F11) - disabled C&Q and rest of the software, that could change voltage

    Today installed fresh Win7 - tried setting LLC on Extreme (v 1.375 under windows from CPU-Z - PC freeze on Windows Experience Index (or whatever is this called to check parts and get score)) - on 2 cores everything runs okay...

    I initially didn't realize that you are trying to run a dual core at 4 cores. I've never played with that or attempted it.

    though looking at the CPU spec, it could take up to 1.425v (which sounds like a lot).

    What are all your voltage settings in the Bios? not just vcore, but all of them.

    I'm little scared to run it on too much voltage - not sure how the new mainboard manage power - I dont want to fry my CPU :) It was hard to get it (exact model that was able to run full 4 cores without problem :D)

    I'm not changing anything until im sure, I wont damage anything by changing values - so everything run on default settings - I'll try to give exact values when I get back home. Till now tried to change only the LLC setting - all the voltage values were default.

    Hi. Had some time to have fun with voltages - and 4 cores works good for few minutes without hanging :)

    Changed:
    - CPU PLL Voltage Control (added +0.2V to default value)
    - DRAM Voltage Control (added +0.1V to default value)
    - NB Voltage Control (added +0.5V to default value)
    - Load Line Control - Regular (from Auto)
    - AMD C1E Support - Disabled (from Enabled)
    - AMD K8 Cool&Quiet Control - Disabled (from Auto)

    Not sure if those are 'safe' options - but CPU runs 4 cores without hanging (10-15 minutes now)

    Okay, ater 1 hour CPU froze... it was when I tried to launch flash browser game - I got some voltages higher again - still was freezing at flash games.
    I got all the value's to default and locked 4th core (so I have 3 cores running) - flash games are launching good - so I'm not sure what is going on... but I doubt that 4th core is broken somehow (on 770t was running fine on all 4 cores for over 2 years)


    after 4 hours system hangs - now running 1,2,4 core :)
