Default GA-Z77X-UP5 Help with BIOS settings for Windows 8

I want to do a WINDOWS 8 (64 bit) install with UEFI modeonly. Can someone who has a GA-Z77X-UP5 TH working well with WINDOWS 8 tell me or show me the correct BIOS settings? Should I use BIOS version F13a or F12e? <o:p></o:p>

I don't have that board but I have Windows 8 working on LGA 775 motherboards and X58 boards... on that board it is Windows 8 ready so it shouldn't matter what Bios you are using, it should just work.

or is there a specific function that you want?

In the F12e version BIOS under the "BIOS Features" is a section starting with: "OS Type" (which I assume one would select Windows 8 for Windows 8), then there's "CSM Support" with options "always or never" (selecting "never" doesn't seem to stick and may have something to do with the next UEFI settings), then there are 4 "UEFI" settings with various options available (legacy or not, etc. etc.). It's these 6 items that I believe guide a Windows 8 install to be true UEFI mode. I'm just looking for someone who found the right setting combination (for Windows 8 UEFI mode only). And does anyone know if the new BIOS F13a version treats these specific settings any different?

High I have the same mb currently using bios F12g (f13a was not stable) I have set os to Windows 8 and left the csm at default setting on.

I do have a serious problem with my Logitech wireless keyboard and dongle, just this morning when I checked the setting for you I was not able to use my keyboard hence NOT being able to enter the Bios environment. since I do not have an other keyboard had to do a cmos reset fidled at bit with the logitech dongle/receiver and all of a sudden my keyboard was recognised. Had similair problems with the z77 ud5 It seems that in certain circumstances the usb ports do not seem to be actived.

you both may want to take note and comment in this thread; http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...take-note.html

fur the USB KB issue, you have to make sure it is connected to a native USB2 port (usually the one next to the network port) and also make sure you have legacy USB enabled and/or make sure the KB function is enabled for Bios and not OS (again in USB options).

I Always use the native usb port 2.0 for the logitech receiver. Just checked the bios, legacy is enabled but could not find the option KB function Bios.

I was pretty sure there is a USB Option where you select OS or Boot, and basically have it set to OS doesn't enable the USB ports until the Windows Load screen comes up. This sets the OS to manage all USB devices. But this also prevents you from being able to enter the Bios with a USB KB.
