Just went thru all various Z87 OC Guide (Asus & Gigabyte atm).

After many "new records" or "Total Domination!" and OC Guide for ES chips, from
various companies (persons), done all with Engineering Sample (ES) or Qualification Sample
(QS).............QE6S - Asus (need FIVR baypass) / QEH6 - Gigabyte (became QS Prime for Retail).

Is nice to see what ES version can do but........it's time for them to turn the page and start to look in RETAIL version
as we all buying Retail version which didn't perform as ES.

3, same as always! Why, you making fun 'a me?

I dunno, I may have propped it up on something, but it was ridiculously easy to do. I posted pics here after I did the deed dirt cheap.

BTW heard the newer IRST drivers causing all kinds of hate and discontent. My install disk had the 12.0.0.xxxx ones, I tried to install later ones and result was no boot until I did a system restore. Speaking of which I had another epic fail with the drives last night and had to install Windows AGAIN! This is getting old. Acronis was NO HELP AT ALL. I bought the Home version of EaseUS so I hope it works better at recovering OS.
The bios, drivers, or something is major not right, I can't wait until it's straightened out. Can't be reinstalling all this stuff every few days.......

Of course I'm making fun of you, after all, my moto is do unto others before they do unto you.
I don't recall seeing your delidding photos, can post a link to them? Please!!

I'm using the Macrium Reflect free version for my backups.
EaseUs and Reflect both let you create a bootable CD/DVD using winPE instead of the more limited LinX O/S.
Earlier today Reflect prompted me that their latest update now includes winPE 4 which is supposed to be compatible with win8, win7 and possibly earlier O/S editions. Unlike EaseUs, Reflect is smart enough to prompt me to load the drivers for my HighPoint 1022A usb 3.0 HBA controller when I boot from the Reflect winPE DVD. EaseUs does not let me load the drivers so I can't use it to access my backed up boot drive images that are on my 3TB external hard drive.

In another thread, the OP couldn't clone his O/S from a hard drive when he was using paid versions of Acronis or Ghost. He tried the free version of Reflect and it successfully cloned his O/S the first time! I've demo'ed Reflect long enough, I'm going to pay for their standard or pro version the next time I get an email from them with a reduced price offer.

It's results like yours (and others) that are the reason I'm not an early adopter with Haswell and win8. Besides, another motto of mine is don't do today what you can put off until tomorrow. No, I'm not a member of Procrastinator's Anonymous mainly because I never got a round tuit. Does Lowe's or Home Depot sell round tuits?

The free version never worked with an EFI windows install for me....wouldn't even see the OS drive.
I have the C&D drives, system, backed up with Easus Home version....I have the C drive backed up again with Windows + a Windows system image. Of course in the past I've had all backups absolutely fail so who knows? I know one thing: I will never, ever, buy Acronis again. It has failed me too many times.
The bios I guess doesn't see Windows as an EFI install, or does and can't find the partition, IDK, but whenever there is a boot problem the C drive won't show up as UEFI in the bios.
Someone has been relaying my probs to Gigabyte so I'm hoping a fix is forthcoming.....there was speculation about the IRST drivers but I'm using older 12.0 version.............

I'm used to working through problems and normally don't let it faze me much.....but this go around it's been bad enough to turn into a major time suck....plus I'm not working anymore so I don't really have money to throw away...

But back to EaseUS....I bought the Home version this morning because their free version works so good for cloning the OS to a disk. I used the free version to clone to my new SSD and it worked good enough I decided to buy their Home version for a reduced price to replace the Acronis crap.

Were you able to buy EaseUs with the 30% discount offer from last week?
I just checked my email and Macrium has a 30% discount for the first 200 people that use the coupon code. I might be too late, I've sent them an email to see if their offer is still good.

The way I look at it, I'll have plenty of time to fiddle/fart around with other peoples' Haswell issues once I get up to speed with my Haswell system. Right now I'm leaning towards an Asus or MSI mobo. I'm PO'd at Gigabytes poor record with NOT delivering stable bioses and keeping owners waiting for way too long with "promised" bios updates starting with P67 systems. I need to carefully check out the official Asus motherboard forums that appear to have active factory tech support. Stasio has been doing a hell of a good job with Gigabyte support, but without someone like Lsdme to provide Gigabyte support I think that other brands will provide the best overall support. Sin0822's posts are superb, but he doesn't post here anywhere near as often as Lsdme used to.

I'm in no hurry as I probably won't buy my system until late summer or during the holiday shopping season starting around Black Friday/Thanksgiving.
