    I don't see that voltage drop, if I set a manual volt it stays static, even with all power saving set in the BIOS, the multiplier and frequency drop by the Core,VID, and VRM all stay at the value i've set in the BIOS.

    What are you using to monitor vcore? I had to use Cpuz 1.64.0 to see idle voltage 1.64.3 would not. Or get a DMM and you will see voltage drop. I also put a video on first post show it both with DMM and cpuz.

    AIDA (latest beta), CPU-Z 1.64 (OC) all show a static 1.20 when manually set to that in BIOS. I don't have a MM anymore unfortunately or i'd check with that.

    I've set all the power saving options to ENABLED, and when using an offset all of the voltages drop, and I get around 9w draw when completely idle, but with the manual voltage lowest I get is 15w draw.

    Tried all of those, in offset CPU-Z shows the drop immediately, with set limit it sticks at the limit.

    Guess i really need a DMM to check it.

    I'm running F6J BIOS too.

    As an aside, I have learned to leave LLC in Auto when I have Vcore = Normal+0.x. I think if I use a fixed-Voltage Vcore I will set LLC to Extreme. <rubs hands> Soon to the basement to try this stuff.

    See my comments on using fixed vcore and llc extreme. Not a bad thing just something to keep an eye for. Now I just did a push at 4.8ghz with 1.5v set and cpuz showed 1.525v this was with linx 10.3.10.017

    This is what I have tested/seen so far. But look at vcore the closer you get to 1.4v the more the board over volts. Cpuz 1.64.0 and higher seem to show correct vcore at full load compared to a dmm but only 1.64.0 for me show correct idle voltage.

    Also noticed when setting fixed voltage for vring with all power saving options enabled in bios vring will also drop low along with uncore speed at idle.

    What does Gigabyte call QPI/VTT in their Haswell mb?
    I'm wondering if the 0x124 error code can call for anything other than Vcore.

    in my experience its best to overclock one component at a time. Set uncore to 34x and ram to 1600 or underclock it and just over clock cpu cores. You will still get 0x101 and 0x124 for vcore and for vring and I think system agent.

    Over each component separately you at least know which voltage to adjust.

    vcore - cpu speed
    vring - uncore
    system agent - memory controller
    vrin can help reduce vcore and stablize high overclocks. vcore should be no closer then 0.400 from vrin. so if using 1.8v vrin vcore should not be higher then 1.4v

    Taking advice from more experienced overclockers, I have returned to fixed Voltages. Thanks for your help. Here are my OC settings:

    These are the settings that work best for me. A CPU at 4.6 GHz overheats my chip, throttles it and results in lower GFlops. I tried dropping my PCH to 1.0v and 1.05v and the rig would not POST. I dropped the Uncore to 3.5GHz and saw a little slowing -- down to 129.5 GFlops.

    The Observed column above is what the GA-Z87X-UD4H reports in BIOS. I may dig a bit more to see if it reports more numbers somewhere.

    So I am running a reasonably stable (fingers crossed) OC of slightly more than 20% (45/37). I have taken a screenshot of a trophy run at 5GHz -- 35% OC (50/37). My i7 860 on a GA-P55A-UD3P got up to 4664 MHz on a trophy run -- a 59% OC (4664/2933). The stable speed on that is 4004 MHz, a 33% OC (4004/2933). I think that I am seeing a reduced OC percent because the baseline factory speed has risen from 2.93GHz on Turbo Boost to 3.7GHz on Turbo Boost. I am waiting for people to come forward with the Ivy Bridge E's. If those OC well I may get one for my daughter -- she does image-editing.

    Hmm. It's only July 3rd. I got my chip and MB on June 15. It's only been 2 and a half weeks of fun. Now what will I do?
