Taking advice from more experienced overclockers, I have returned to fixed Voltages. Thanks for your help. Here are my OC settings:

    Feature.....Set...........Observed

    BCLK........100MHz.....100MHz+/-
    CPU..........4.5GHz......4500+MHz
    RAM.........1600MHz....~1600MHz
    Uncore......4.5GHz

    Vcore........1.250V.....1.260V
    Vccin........2.000V......2.004V
    Vrin..........1.200V
    Vrin LLC....Extreme
    CPU LLC....Auto
    VAXG........Auto.........0.12V
    Vdram.......Auto.........1.499V
    PCH..........1.090V

    Sys Agent. Auto
    I/O Analog Auto
    I/O Digital Auto

Air cooling: Prolimatech Armageddon heatsink, Gelid GC Extreme TIM.

These are the settings that work best for me. A CPU at 4.6 GHz overheats my chip, throttles it and results in lower GFlops. I tried dropping my PCH to 1.0v and 1.05v and the rig would not POST. I dropped the Uncore to 3.5GHz and saw a little slowing -- down to 129.5 GFlops.

The Observed column above is what the GA-Z87X-UD4H reports in BIOS. I may dig a bit more to see if it reports more numbers somewhere.

So I am running a reasonably stable (fingers crossed) OC of slightly more than 20% (45/37). I have taken a screenshot of a trophy run at 5GHz -- 35% OC (50/37). My i7 860 on a GA-P55A-UD3P got up to 4664 MHz on a trophy run -- a 59% OC (4664/2933). The stable speed on that is 4004 MHz, a 33% OC (4004/2933). I think that I am seeing a reduced OC percent because the baseline factory speed has risen from 2.93GHz on Turbo Boost to 3.7GHz on Turbo Boost. I am waiting for people to come forward with the Ivy Bridge E's. If those OC well I may get one for my daughter -- she does image-editing.

Glad to see your getting somewhere with your overclock. Yeah my cpu topped at around 4.5-4.6ghz before delidding. If and when you go to delid, I suggest you get some liquid pro and use that on the cores.

Does your cpu need the 2.0v vrin(vccin)? I am only at 1.85-1.9 at a 4.7ghz overclock Some people say leave at auto or default 1.8. At 2.0v you should be just fine just seams little more then should be needed.

4.5ghz uncore @ 1.2v vring???? thats really good. My cpu needs 1.25v for 4.3ghz uncore.

Yeah I am in the same boat as you got OC finalized and now what to do???? Wish I had some LN2 to play with.

I'm not sure about Vccin of 1.9v. Seems it wasn't enough when I was doing cpu = 4.6. I may have tried it; can't remember. I could try dropping it, but I know 1.8v isn't enough. And when the BIOS readout shoows Vccin pulling 2.004v, I suspect I have the right Voltage. But I will try to lower it. Thanks. Good suggestion.

BTW -- Vccin is the Vring Override. When I figured that out, I nudged up the Vrin to where I could drop Vcore and raise the Uncore speed. I like having cpu=uncore. I'm not sure if it will make much of a difference, but it is satisfying and there is no heat penalty . . . which is why I'm not overclocking my RAM. I have no margin for extra heat.

BTW2 -- We are playing with one one-hundredth of a Volt when we go from 1.24v to 1.25v. And to go frpom 1.85v to 1.9v is still one twentieth of a Volt. These are mind-bogglingly small differences.

I dropped Vccin to 1.9v. As usual, dropping Voltage dropped performance. In this case, the processing speed dropped more than 1GFlops. While the hottest core temp is the same at 97c, it did not reach that until almost the end, where in the results of Vccin=2.000v the core temp reached 97c mid-way.

Note here there is a consistency: the difference between the hottest and the least hot core was 12c.

    Vccin = 1.7 Volts (!)

    Haswell Overclocking Guides / Results-2013-07-04-4-5ghz-vccin-1-7v-jpg

Dropped Vccin to 1.800v. It was fine. Dropped it to 1.750v. It was fine. Dropped Vccin to 1.700v: the LinX AVX performance actually increased to 130Gflops. The max temp on Vccin 1.75v was 94c. The rise in temp to 95c on Vccin=1.7v represented a rise in the ambient temp.

Dropped Vccin to 1.600V. LinX AVX crashed Windows some time in the middle of the run (I had gone out and missed it).

Sorry. I forgot how to upload more than one image. Continued next post.

Edit: actually, I'll just tell you: LinX AVX ran fine with Vccin=1.65v, making 129 Gflops and max core temp of 94c.

I'll put the specs in my sig. I'll be raising Vccin to 1.67v, just because I like it.

But in BIOS, with Vccin=1.65v, Vrin was 1.644v. With Vccin=1.67v, Vrin is 1.68v. Tiny difference.

Have you guys tried running the latest Prime 95? I could get Aida stable for hours but small fft's in P95 killed me after a while. I was using v27.7 though, didn't realize there was a v27.9 out.

Right now I'm waiting to get a new board/cpu since I'm selling the current rig. Already bought new gpu's & SSD's but I'm waiting to get paid for "old" rig before I buy mobo and cpu. The 16GB RAM kit already went up $50........
