    Testing w/ LinX now. Why is it BIOS suggests to set Uncore to 'same or higher' value as Core Ratio, but in screenshots I see here of Tweaklauncher have Uncore less than VCore? (ex. statio shows vcore=42/uncore=40, and boondocks in the previous page shows vcore=45/uncore=39).

    When Uncore is untuched = left at default 35x or 34x they should be considered Auto. If you want to disable Auto set uncore to 1 less or more then default, so if your default uncore is 35x (4770k) set to 34x or 36x. Default/Auto will overclock to 40x depending on cpu multi.

    Yeah I dont know why bios says to keep uncore = to Cpu speed. This is fine a lower overclocks but at higher speeds it gets hard to keep uncore even with cpu speed. My cpu uncore maxes out around 42x and do higher but need alot more voltage to get there and performance does not scale with uncore as it does with cpu speed.

    Like Ace says...what were they thinking? LOL. But he explained pretty well, I think.
    For my x45 overclock, a 39x uncore requires about 1.10v ring. Setting higher doesn't do anything for me unless I pile on more voltage....at least in benchmarks.

    But now that I'm delidded I'll be trying higher OC and will see how the uncore scales for my cpu....

    I see. I also just saw the part in sin's Haswell OC guide that 'Haswell's cache has twice the bandwidth' so it's not necessary to set Uncore speed to CPU.

    So with VRing set to Auto, I can set it to +1 at 35.

    Latest issue now (LinX 0.6.5) is temp, as mine reached 95+C just at 42x Core (Vcore=1.185) and 35x Uncore ratio. Guess my air (212X coolmaster) isn't doing much good :( What's the peak temp I should consider? Any difference if I set Problem Size and Memory to 'All' or set them to what specific values?

    Any need to set Loadline calib to any other than Auto (i.e. Medium)?

    Yes when testing with LinX you should have memory set to all to fully stress the system. I recommend 5-10 runs for short stability test and 15-20 runs for max stability.

    As for max temp I would try to keep core temp to around 80c-90c. If you have not delidded your cpu and your on air and at 4.2ghz then your doing pretty good. If you feel up to the challenge and delid the cpu and use Liquid pro on the core that will drop temps around 15c-30c right there, but haswell really needs to be watercooled.

    I have been playing with LLC with the Z87-OC board and while I do not see a drop in vcore use lower LLC, I did see a drop in stability. I recommend setting LLC to extreme and all other PWM phase setting to extreme.

    Vcore = Cpu speed/Cpu multi
    Vring = Uncore. possibly bclk?
    VSA = qpi/vtt = memory overclocking
    VCCIN = primary input voltage can be left on auto
    All other voltage can be left on auto until you really want to try and push the system.

    Max voltages

    Vcore max on air keep eye on core temp. You will max out core temp before vcore on AIR. On water Keep under 1.5v also keep eye on core temps
    vring = I want to say around 1.25v-1.30v
    VSA = 0.40v I believe

    Please correct me if I am wrong about max voltages.

    Thanks Ace!

    Longer testing w/ the same, current settings: just at 42x Core (Vcore=1.185) and 35x Uncore ratio, and LLC=Medium, temps reached 100C already! The rest stock at Auto.
    What do I adjust to lower my temps? I really just want to have more performance than stock (even a little, as long as stable) with my current setup and have no plans to move from air to water.

    You can try your same settings but test with this LinX 0.64.zip. This uses AVX instead of AVX2 which will not stress the cpu as hard which will be cooler and will require less volts.

    AVX my cpu needs 1.210v for 4.5ghz and 1.330v for 4.7ghz
    AVX2 my cpu needs 1.330v for 4.5ghz and tried up to 1.400v for 4.6ghz (bsod in under 2 min)

    So I give up on AVX2 and nothing I use will stress my system as bad as that does.
