when it froze i had tera online, chrome, and hwinfo64
I have done a memtest for 6 hours+ with both sticks in and have 5 passes and no errors.
i will have to check the bios for underclocking the cpu and do you have instructions for underclocking the gpu?

Were you running Memtest86+ v4.2 from a bootable usb or optical disk?
Memtest86+ is excellent for preliminary testing but it's not a definitive stress test.
Prime95 is an excellent stress test but it might push your core temperatures above 80o C which is a no-no.
It's best to run Prime95 overnight or all day for at least 6 - 8 hours.

I'll look at your mobo bios manual, but I haven't helped with detailed overclocking advice with systems newer than LGA775.
If you can lower the BCLK multiplier by 1, this should underclock your cpu by 100MHz which should help with less heat.

I'll be posting my 30o C ambient temperature gpu benchmark/demo test summary in a few minutes.

First of all, I'm really comfortable when the ambient temperature is 65o - 68o F or about 19o C and I really hate hot weather. I turned off the air conditioning and my room eventually got to 85o F or 30o C. I then used my new test system to be able to see what video card temperatures I would get with my video card runing the Unigine Valley benchmark/demo for 30 minutes after my system initially idled for 20 minutes before starting the benchmark test followed by letting the demo run for most of the 30 minute test.

    Hardware used:
MSI N460GTX Hawk Talon Attack at stock settings, gpu = 810MHz and memory at 3900MHz (QDR)
Q9650 at 4.005GHz with 8GB of OCZ DDR2_1066 Reaper memory at 1068MHz with 5-5-5-15 primary timings
    Gigabyte P35-DS4 (rev 2.0) motherboard
Seasonic SS-660XP2 80Plus Platinum rating, 660 watt power supply
Noctua NH-C12P downdraft cpu heatsink with a Noctua NF-P12 120mm fan at 1400 rpm
Cooler Master HAF XB case with:
    • two Scythe S-FLex SFF21F 120mm fans at 1600 rpm (intake for the motherboard)
    • one Cooler Master 120mm fan at 1800 rpm (exhaust)
    • two Arctic F8PWM 80mm PWM fans at 2200 rpm (intake for the lower XB chamber)

HWiNFO64 was used to monitor all sensors and log the results.

GPU temperature was 33o C at the start of the test and quickly rose to 54o C within minutes and settled in the 59o - 60o C range for the 30 minute test. When the test completed, it took 60 seconds for the gpu temperature to drop to 40o C and 90 seconds for the temperature to drop to 37o C. It took 8 minutes longer for the temperature to drop to 35o C and 12.5 minutes more to settle on 30o C.

GPU fan speeds hit 71% of maximum rpm.

It's taking forever for the air conditioning to lower the room temperature to my comfort zone.

For prime 95 if we're testng heat and ram what test should i run and at what temp should i abort if any.
also turned power management settings in windows to high performance

For any test I would try to keep cpu core temperatures below 80o C.
High Performance settings might result in somewhat higher system temperatures.

Normal Prime95 cpu core temperatures are in the low to mid 50o C range.
It looks like the Large FFT tests produce the most heat.
Stop the test if even one error occurs.
Post a screen-shot that shows Prime95 error details.
Click on the Prime95 tutorial link in my signature for more information.

Make sure that you have enabled round off checking before you start Prime95 tests.

You can use EVGA Precision X or MSI AfterBurner to tweak your video card settings.
I use MSI AfterBurner, download for the program and user manual file: MSI Afterburner download
Both programs offer similar features and allow saving gpu profiles, gpu sensor logging and more.

With lower gpu and/or memory speeds, you might be able to also lower gpu voltages slightly.
Trying a 50MHz lower gpu speed might be a good start.

well hmmm i didnt run the prime95 test, but i finally got a spare psu to swap in i thought that was the fix but once again another freeze while (playing League of legends) all the while i was only using the onboard video (placed the gpu in an antistatic bag) but same freeze again just locks up no errors then when try to hard reset it wont even post. I also took my ram sticks to a friends house tried them one at a time and they post'd fine so atm im at my wits end. (posting this from my old PC) ./frustrated
*since my last post it went alright for one whole day then its first crash*

Which bios version are you running? CPU-z Motherboard window will display the bios version.
If windows Event Viewer doesn't show any warning or errors that occurred shortly before the freeze, the HWiNFO64 sensor log might show voltages, temperatures or some other problems that might be causing the freezes or BSOD's.

Make a note of any bios settings that you have changed from the default settings and then clear the CMOS for 10 minutes or longer, with the psu power cable unplugged from the wall outlet or from the back of the power supply. You will then need to boot into the bios, load Optimized Bios defaults, save settings and exit, then enter the bios again and manually reenter your previous bios settings.

It sounds like the video card isn't the primary cause of your freezes or BSOD's.

It might be worthwhile to test with only one 4GB memory module installed in the correct memory slot that is described in your user manual.

Flashed to the backup bios using Ctrl + F10 and it said 'the main bios is corrupted' (idk if this is a automatic response or not) and i let it go through it paces i loaded optimized default settings then changed them manually as when I first set up this machine. Just gonna wait and see what happens now.

unfortunately even after flashing from the old bios im still getting crashes I am just gonna sign off on this mobo and try and get the board i originally intended for my build (GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UP4 TH)

Profjim is there a way i can send u my last hwinfo logs in a email becuz i cant upload it due to its size
