    @asafvak

    We don't know anything about the hardware in your system except for which memory kit you have.

    Using the bios template, fill in and post the bios settings that you have tried.

    You might need to use a different 2 x 4GB memory kit.

    I can't help you until you also provide a detailed hardware list.

    We need detailed information about ALL OF THE HARDWARE in your system.

    We can best help you after you create a detailed hardware list in the System Specs
    portion of your forum profile at the bottom of the profile page or in your forum signature.
    Be sure to include brand names and model numbers.
    When you are done editing or creating your hardware list, save the settings.

    Question Re: EP35C-DS3R won't boot with new DDR3 ram

    Hi all,

    i'm new and have the same problem.

    I currently run my system with 4x 1GB DDR2 800 and wanted to switch to 2x 4GB DDR3 1333 after i heard that 8GB work on my EP35C-DS3R Board.

    I bought this DDR3 Ram from Kingston and tried it on my board. The system isn't booting up. After first fire up (2-3 sec) it restarts. Than it boots for more than 10 sec, but restarts anyway without the "Beep" you hear when System is OK. This cycle never stops.

    I searched through more than 20 Forums and read about xxxx Posts about my board and the running 8GB Ram perfectly. But mine won't work for any reason. So i got deeper in the substance and i think my problem is caused by my CPU. It only has 266 FSB (max. 1066).

    My question is: Can i run 1333 MHz Ram with a CPU that only supports 266 FSB (max. Multi 1066) when the board supports DDR3 1333?

    If no, could i overclock my CPU to get enough bandwidth to get it running with DDR3 1333? (I know that overclocking my CPU up to 350 FSB is possible without problems).

    What do you think? Could this solve the Problem with the DDR3 RAM?

    Here are my CPU-Z Stats:

    (these stats are with one DDR2 bar installed)

    If you need more Info about my System, i will post it.

    @Oz_el_Ruso
    Your chances of using 2 x 4GB of modern DDR3 memory successfully are probably slim to none.
    You can try using only one memory module initially where you set the memory speed lower than the 1333MHz rated speed.
    MCH Core voltage that is too high or too low can cause boot loops.

    As I recall, most P35 and P45 DDR3 memory setups required much higher Dram voltage, usually up to about 1.8 volts.

    I think that the only way that you will have a stable system with 8GB of DDR3 memory is to use an older memory kit that originally came out around 2008 or earlier. Modern DDR3 is designed to be used with more modern memory controllers with 16GB or 32GB systems.

    Except for the current lower price, higher speed DDR3 memory speeds will have no benefit with your P35 system in real world performance compared to high quality, cas4 800MHz memory or cas5 1066 DDR2 memory. Current cost for high quality 2 x 2GB DDR2 memory kits is about $75 per kit on my side of the pond. My HyperX 1066MHz cas5 memory is superb at 844MHz with 4-4-4-10 timings. My OCZ Repear 1066 cas5 DDR2 memory is stable at 876MHz with 4-4-4-10 timings. YMMV.

    Default Re: EP35C-DS3R won't boot with new DDR3 ram

    So that means that even when I find DDR3 Ram with 1.8v, i wouldn't really notice difference between DDR2 800 and DDR3 1066?

    The thing that I don't understand is that there are many people that can run their EP35C-DS3R with DDR3. I don't think that they all found RAM with 1.8 voltage, because the Threads where they posted were from 2010 - 2012.

    By now I found nothing but I hope to find some 1.8v DDR3. DDR3 8GB here in germany costs ~60 EUR and DDR2 is up to ~80 EUR for the same amount.

    Thank you for your help. Hoped that I not have to send back the RAM

    EDIT:
    I looked at the compatibility list of Gigabyte for RAM and there is for example the KVR1333D3N8 from Kingston that works with 1.5v. How can it be if the board only supports 1.8 volt like you said?

    In post #23 I said:
    As I recall, most P35 and P45 DDR3 memory setups required much higher Dram voltage, usually up to about 1.8 volts.
    Your current 1333MHz memory is rated at JEDEC standard 1.5V (1.425V ~ 1.575V) Power Supply. I would NOT run any DDR3 memory with more than 1.65 volts unless it is rated at higher voltages.

    A web search using: p35 ddr2 vs ddr3 memory performance includes an interesting 2007 AnandTech article, AnandTech | Intel P35 Memory Performance: A Closer Look, where they describe their results with P35 and P965 systems.

    Review the P35C threads that said that they were stable with 2 x 4GB of DDR3 memory and which specific memory kits worked and what their bios settings were. You can use the TweakTown Advanced Search feature where you type P35C EP35C in the Keyword(s): field and select the Search Titles Only option.

    In many of these threads, they had to start with lower memory speeds and perform stability tests and gradually tweak and retest with somewhat faster memory speeds. Your best overall performance will be when your cpu speed is overclocked even if you need to run with somewhat lower memory speeds. See if you can get your system stable with 800 - 1066MHz speeds using only one memory module. You will probably need to set (G)MCH voltage to +0.20 or +0.25 volts. Do not go higher than +0.30 volts for this setting. If you have a very good cpu cooler you shouldn't have any heat related issues with a higher cpu overclock. Also check out the excellent http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...ing-guide.html

    See if you can find several P35C or EP35C web reviews where DDR3 memory was used. Over the years AnandTech has posted many excellent P35 and P45 motherboard reviews that included o/c results and bios settings.

    @Oz_el_Ruso

    Have you tried contacting Kingston Technical Support to see if they have any suggestions or recommendations?

    Maybe they will let you RMA your current memory for a different kit that might have better compatibility.

    To make it clear. I sent back the Kingston HyperX.
    Bought this ones "Team Group Elite Series DDR3-1333 CL9 - 8 GB Kit" and they work. They are also 1,5V and they work. It is not depending on the voltage.

    For the audience:

    I can confirm that this is 100% working DDR3-Ram for the Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R (rev. 2.1) with Bios Version F4 (06/08/2009). See also my SystemConfig at my previous Post in this Thread.
