    Oh, ok. So basically for shared bandwidth. Problem for me perhaps is I can't test too reliably as my USB3 devices are not identical, at least in terms of brand/size is concerned.

    Per GB TW (through email), they now say it's USB3_2 (the ones near the front panel headers) that are controlled by Intel. I believe @sin and other UD3H reviews (correct me if I'm wrong) mentioned USB3_1 (the one with the Red cover) is the one controlled by Intel. Now I'm confused.

    Which two back panel ports are you referring to, since there are 6? My understanding is that all back panel ports are controlled by the Renesas hubs, so two more can be added to one of these hubs through the appropriate internal header.

    In windows Device Manager, see if you can temporarily disable one of the Renesas usb 3.0 hubs, then you would be able to see which usb 3.0 connectors no longer work. Then re-enable the first hub and disable the second Renesas hub and retest the usb 3.0 connectors.

    To avoid disabling your keyboard and/or mouse, make sure that they are connected to usb 2.0 connectors!

    Sherpa.
    So now GB TW is saying the red header is controlled by Renesas??? This is what GB USA told me after he left the phone to go check on the answer.
    Looks like we will have to do the test Jim suggested (disable the hubs and see which header quits working) to find the accurate answer. My system is down for other parts reasons, can you run the test and see what happens?

    Jim, thanks for the suggestion. Why didn't we think of that???

    I finally have the correct answer to the which header is which question from GB engineering dept. The GB USA rep was right all along. Here is the answer.

    "I checked with our engineer team, I was told that only the F_USB30_2 is directly through the chipset, the rest are sharing hubs.

    The two USB 3.0 ports next to the PS2 connector share one hub with the F_USB30_1 (the red one)

    The 4 USB 3.0 ports near each other by the two LAN ports share the other hub."

    So the case front 2 usb3 ports should be hooked to F_USB30_2, this way you should get full bandwidth at the same time from both ports directly from the Intel chipset with out sharing with any hub. I say front 2 ports since the front ports are much more conveniently accessed than something at the back.

    The red header should not be hooked to anything you want full bandwidth from if you are also using the 2 back ports by the PS2 connector at the same time since they share.

    The other 4 back ports can only supply full bandwidth to one of them at a time since they all share.

    So this board can only supply 4 usb3 devices with full bandwidth at the same time if you have them hooked to the right ports and the above gives you the info to do it.

    I think that I made an invalid assumption where I thought that a motherboard at the UD5H level would use all possible Intel USB 3.0 ports. I don't know if using two Renesas hubs depends upon using four possible native Intel USB 3.0 ports. Did they go cheap with the current setup? We will probably need to compare the UD5H USB 3.0 setup with another brand or model that fully supports using all six of the Intel USB 3.0 ports.

    It looks like the keywords are "Up to 6 x USB 3.0 Ports" in the first column.
