    Default Z87X-OC Force stuttering

Having a strange issue with this board. Basically when I open up a program the mouse will stutter for a second (ex: freeze) and then work okay. Happens with CPU-Z, HWiNFO64, MaxxMEM², and a few others. I remember having this issue way back with my G1.Sniper 3 which I eventually got rid of because it was so annoying.

One thing I did note is that my latency is very high and I get a lot of spikes.

    Things I've tried:

    • Disabling onboard audio
    • Disabling Marvell SATA controller
    • Disabling C1E, EIST, all the power saving features
    • Trying different RAM

I'm currently on BIOS F7 (latest). Haven't tried an older one yet.

The only thing I can think of is my mouse/keyboard. So I went ahead and tried a PS/2 keyboard and a wireless mouse, same issue.

Thanks. I think I'm just going to RMA the board because it's underperforming in benchmarks. My ASRock Z87 Extreme6 and ECS Z87H3-A2X EXTREME score better at stock which is weird for a board that costs twice as much.

If you RMA and they test it as "OK" they ship it back with no notice of what was carried out on their end. you just get the same board back and waste the cost of shipping.

what are your CPU temperatures like? and can the high latencies be tied with CPU Usage from the Task manager? What is your page file setting set too?

Core temps are great, low to mid-20s at idle and low 60s under load at stock (using Prime95). When I tried overclocking my 4770K to 4.3GHz, it got up to 81°C. Page file was set to let Windows manage it but I changed it to 400MB/400MB (which I've done in the past on other boards) and the issue still persists.

On an unrelated note, when I DID try overclocking with the same settings from other boards, it's not stable (BSOD 124/101). Usually that means more CPU voltage but I'm already adding 0.1v more than what I've used on the other boards. Flaky board or BIOS?
