Well, that was a great explanation Professor !!! I clean this pc regularly ( dust that is ) and have never really thought about checking and reattaching the wiring ( will start doing this for sure !!! ). Where my pc sits, is close to the step down going to our living room and it feels like an earthquake sometimes when the kids tromp through--so this also could be a problem, ( hmmm, shock absorbers for the pc ---ha !! )
-------------------------------EXAM TIME--------------------- Note --due to having to get to work I will abbreviate this knowing many points will be deducted---ha !!
Explain how and why computer systems fail
    1) Software problems ( including incompatiblity and installation errors )
    2) Hardware problems ( including incompatiblity and electrical )
    3) LOOSE, UNSECURE WIRING !!! If possible use plastic ties to secure connections to prevent them from being accidentally pulled apart, connections should be checked min. of twice a year to insure proper contact, also look for any possible stress on motherboard that could cause the bottom of motherboard to contact case causing a short, insure motherboard stands ( whatever they are called ) on the case are all in place and secure and preventing motherboard contact with case )
    4) HUMAN ERROR---- Including installation of software, hardware, proper wiring, insuring good air flow to prevent overheating ( maintain proper maintenance and cleaning )
    5) CURSES or SPELLS ---profJim has been known to put curses or spells on pc's due to forum members not posting pc specs ( thought this song was appropriate, gotta love Screaming Jay--showing my age ) Screamin' Jay Hawkins, I Put a Spell on You - YouTube
Seriously---thank you so much Professor for another adventure and learning experience in this paranormal world of pc's,

    take care---Robby----

95 points out of 100 deducted for not meeting the minimum essay length.
+96 points added for the Screamin' Jay Hawkins link.
Your final score gives you an A+ grade.

You're welcome, glad to help out once again.

ps: Visiting the Twilight Zone with our computer systems is always an adventure into the unexpected and the unknown.

You are too funny profJIm. It is quite amazing you posted the Twilight Zone link--it is my favorite series that I watch ( STILL ) with my teenage kids ( son--15, daughter--19 ) when they have marathons on the Scifi channel. I have come to really admire Rod Serling's
profound insight and wisdom and philosophy. As a child the series seemed scary ( I believe it was the opening ) but as I grew older and watched I found the message in his episodes quite enlightening.
thanks for the A+ ( I was hoping old screaming JH would bring it home for me ---ha )----Robby---
