Default Problem with Gigabyte Z87X-UD5H and USB 3 Devices

So a fortnight ago I purchased a Z87X-UD5H and an i7 4770K, all was alright (mostly) until I tried to use an Icy Box USB 3 enclosure (IB-RD3640SU3).
Using all the default BIOS settings (except Init Display First - I'm using onboard graphics) the enclosure connects/disconnects continuously from the moment it is plugged in. This happens on all the USB slots. The enclosure is not at fault, it worked perfectly on my old P67 mobo. Setting XHCI mode to disabled, and ditching the Intel eXtensible host controller, the enclosure works fine, although only at USB 2 speeds. I've also tried the F7 and F8a bios'es, with no luck.
I have purchased a Renesas D0720201 based PCIe USB 3.0 card, and when connected to this, the enclosure works correctly, at full speed, therefore confirming my suspicion that the motherboard is to blame. I have used the drivers off Gigabyte website, as well as the latest ones off here.
Do I have a duff mobo, or is there something I'm missing?

Unfortunately that seems to be the way it goes with some USB 3.0 devices. Best bet is to put in a support ticket with Gigabyte and tell them about it, I doubt you'll get it straightened out here.
But please do keep us informed about what Gigabyte says and if you are successful in getting it to work.

Not sure if this would work, nor if this is a good recommendation, but have you tried enabling XHCI and EHCI settings in BIOS? I remember having problems before with my XBOX controller and thought there were issues with my USB ports, and when I enabled these settings, problems went away. I'm not sure though when these options would be necessary as I understood all USB3 are backward-compatible with all USB2 devices.

when i buy this board came with BIOS F5 and had many problems (constant blue screens) with my ram to 2400MHz, i had to keep them 1600MHz without XMP. Now when i update the BIOS to F7, USB3.0 ports operate at speeds of USB2.0, until the OS indicates that the external device into a USB3.0 work best, that is recognized as a USB2.0 port. This is so in Windows 7 SP1 x64 Ultime, i install Windows 8 and work well without changing anything in the bios. be some incompatibility with Windows 7? I have had many problems with this board from the beginning.

So if you are running Windows 8 without any additional drivers installed, the USB 3.0 works fine?
Could have been a problem with the Intel driver.

What other problems are you having? Oh, and welcome to the forum likearocket & capocuba!

You should connect GIGABYTE because it look like it there problem..

Also have try the usb 3.0 driver from here http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...ity-tools.html

Win 8 and 8.1 come with USB 3.0 driver build in were Win 7 does not that why GIGABYTE has no driver for win 8 only 7. To get USB 3.0 on win 7 you need to download the driver from there website.

...is why I was asking him. Could be the Intel driver for Win 7 was the problem. The whole Intel USB 3.0 implementation seems problematic for the last two platforms.
