    Default *** 127 C (degrees) *** GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UDR3 and COREi7

    Hi, Good morning.

my computer has the following parts:

    GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UDR3 v2.0
    INTEL CORE i7 920
    OCZ Gold 2x2gb
    MSI R6950
    EXT2 CoolerMaster 625W
    Thermaltake Soprano RS

    specific question:

In the mainboard the CPU TEMP red and green LEDs are ON.

in the bios --- PC Healt Status.
    shows:
    Current CPU Temperature: 127 C
    Current Temperature 44C MCH
    Current CPU Fan Speed 2250rpm

    ---- NO OC----
No matter how much time the PC is ON, the 127 C always be there.

OMG! hotter as hell, but no!., actually seems to work normally, no bluescreen, no freeze, no restarts or shutdowns.

the equipment worked normally, at 127 degrees at least should see smoke!

ok, download other apps to check in windows:
    AIDA64, Cores normal temperatures
HW Monitor, CPU 127, standard cores
    CoreTemp normal

    Photos attached.

Any idea? what happens? should I worry? a friend could provide me with a CoolerMaster 212, I would think that could help,

Thank you for all the help!

Well, when the core temps are just ~48C the CPU can't be 127C .. sounds like a defect socket sensor!?

you can't access/repair that sensor - get a new board if that bugs you!
it even could be this is 127F (not C) which would be more plausible.

    hi, 127F = 52.778C
but, why the bios shows 127 C?

im looking and searching exactly whats mean CPU TEMP, how make this measure and why its different of CORE tem.

meanwhile use this pc as normally do., im waiting for the other heatskin ad make some test, at least, with a better cooler, and if still the 127 on temp, i know than i have a good aftermarket cooler. its just a safe state in my mind. ,

as above CPU temp is a sensor near/under the socket while core temp is an on-die sensor embedded into the CPU - with a good cooler (and good airflow inside case) the core temp is usually ~10C lower than the "socket" temperature.

See image - top core temps, bottom CPU temp

yep, i think so,whe i change the heatskin will see "inside" the socket, clean carefully and see what happens.
